Lisa Perseveres
The show starts with Jill talking about the 10 indictments she received from Iyanla, and worrying over how to resolve them. She is unsure how she will address them all.
Dr. Stan arrives and the women gather for group. Today's topic is the 'power of our story'. He says our story and how we tell it reveals a lot about who we are. Jessica says 9/11 has become her story, and she wishes that weren't true. Lisa says she tells people she is a world traveler, and talks about all the exotic locations she has visited so that people will like her and think she's not an idiot. Stan says our story can hold us back, and he says that is particularly true with Lisa. He says her story defines her as someone who is floating through life. He also mentions TJ, and how she always talks about having ADHD. He says that seriously holds TJ back as well. Group is adjourned.
Iyanla and Jill meet. Jill sent the forgiveness letter to her mom, and her mom wrote back a long email, disagreeing with Jill's take on things. Iyanla says that no one can negate your experience, and says that is also true of the indictments she gave Jill--the indictments don't negate the work and progress Jill has made in the house. Iyanla says it is time for Jill to dive into the 'funk'. She says it's time to really get into why Jill holds herself back with limiting beliefs/thoughts. She tells Jill that she will be interviewing her first expert witness today for her defense against the indictments.
Dr. Stan and Lisa meet and he asks her about the 'backbone' she is holding--the one she is making out of spools. Each spool is labeled with a characteristic of what it means to have a backbone. Stan says one characteristic is 'perseverance'. Then he gives Lisa a letter from Rhonda. It is an assignment and tells Lisa she must 'stop driving through life on cruise control' and to use the directions contained in the letter to take control of her life. Stan says this assignment is about Lisa doing a series of activities throughout the day. He says if she doesn't succeed, he will question whether she should be in the house. Lisa is also concerned about failing this assignment, since she has failed three others.
Iyanla and Allison meet and discuss the events of yesterday when the housemates told her they didn't trust her, etc. Iyanla says Allison shows real growth because she didn't break down or attack her housemates for their thoughts about her. Iyanla says they have reached a new level, and it is time to start thinking about Allison's future. Today Allison is going to go to the Magic Johnson Foundation and learn more about non-profits, and how they operate because Allison wants to work in this field.
Lisa goes on her 'mystery' assignment. Her first stop is a flower shop called Vanilla Rose. The owner of the shop shows Lisa how to make a flower bouquet, and then hands Lisa another note from Rhonda. The note says Lisa is to make eight bouquets in 30 minutes and then go to a new location to sell them. Lisa is nervous because she says she wasn't really watching how to make the flower arrangements, and the note says she can't ask for any help. She gets to work.
Allison arrives at the Magic Johnson Foundation. She meets with a woman who works at the foundation, Towalame Austin. They discuss the passion it takes to work for non-profits, and Allison says she is very excited about this kind of work. She says it is definitely what she wants to do. They go to make calls for donations.
Lisa arrives at her new destination to sell the flowers. She has created all eight bouquets, and approaches people, asking if they would like to buy one of them. At first, everybody turns her down, but she eventually succeeds and sells all of the bouquets. Then a man approaches her with another note from Rhonda. This one says she is to go to a Russian market and buy something with the money she earned selling the flowers.
Dr. Stan and Jessica meet. Jessica says she is having a difficult week-- 9/11 is approaching and her emotions are all over the place. She says this is the first year since the incident that she is actually going to face all the emotions of the tragedy. Stan gives her an assignment to write a story about her relationship with her mom and to share it with her housemates tonight.
Allison makes calls for the foundation, and then Magic Johnson walks in! She is super excited to meet him. She says he is such a powerful compassionate person. Magic then addresses the camera and says 'Allison is the bomb--the coolest, the best!' After the experience, Allison says it has reaffirmed that working in non-profit is what she wants to do with her life.
Jill goes to meet her expert witness. She arrives at The United Church of Religious Science, and meets with the Reverend MarCia Anderson. The reverend tells Jill she is going to help her deal with two counts of the indictment: Count 8, denying joy, and Count 9, harboring anger. The reverend tells her that when we deny ourselves joy, we are denying our natural sense of well-being. She says that harboring anger goes hand in hand with denying joy because when we harbor anger there is no place for joy inside us. She says anger is toxic to our well-being. Jill says she has had an epiphany and has realized that the fight is over--there is nobody left to fight and she is taking off her gloves.
Lisa arrives at the Fairytale Bakery, a Russian bakery, to complete her assignment. She has to buy 'sunaki' (spelling?), which is a Russian dessert. She buys the dessert and heads home.
Iyanla and Allison meet and discuss Allison's day at the foundation. Allison says she had a wonderful time. She says she wants to work for a celebrity foundation. Iyanla tells her to get her resume up to date.
Jessica works on her story. She says one of the lessons she has learned in the house is that she can feel emotional pain and be all right.
Jill goes (with TJ) for her weekly weigh-in at Jenny Craig. She has lost 11.2 lbs this week, and has lost 28lbs in the last five weeks. Jill is overjoyed at the news and does a 'booty dance' with TJ.
Lisa is back at the house and she serves the ladies the Russian dessert she bought. She is very proud of herself for persevering and completing her assignment. She says she even made a profit from the flower sales.
The women gather outside to hear Jessica's story she wrote about her relationship with her mom. Jessica writes a very poignant story, and talks about how her mom instilled in her that family is the most important thing. She told Jessica from a very early age that she was put on the earth to serve others. Jessica says she was blessed with such a wonderful mother. The ladies clap as she finishes reading her story.
Lisa calls Rhonda to give her the daily report on her progress. She is very excited and tells Rhonda what a good job she did today. She gives herself an 'A'. She says she believes in herself so much more now, and knows she can accomplish things when she is determined and perseveres. Rhonda tells her that she has worked very hard, and then congratulates her because she has earned her way back into the house! She tells Lisa to go reclaim her room and unpack her bags. Lisa is ecstatic and runs to tell her housemates. They are all very happy for her. Jessica says Lisa has definitely earned her right to be in the house, and she's glad she back.
As Jill gets ready for bed, she talks about the great day she has had. She says she wonders what it would be like if she could embrace joy in her life every day.
Jessica and TJ are outside talking. Jessica says she usually sleeps through the time the planes hit on 9/11, so she doesn't have to be awake to deal with the memory. She says that she feels she should be further along after all the assignments she has completed in the house--they flashback to Jessica's exercises. Jessica says she doesn't know what the future holds, but she believes it has to healthier than what she has been doing for the last four years.

Jill Gets Indicted (with a couple of screen captures)
The show starts with Allison waking up and talking about feeling freer after yesterday's farewell ceremony. Today is her birthday, and birthdays have always been very special to her. Jill is frustrated with Allison and vents about her to her friends outside the house on the internet.
A man dressed in a faux police officer uniform comes to the door and asks for Jill. He tells Jill she is being indicted on 10 counts. They go through the ten counts too quickly, but the indictments are about Jill not living an unfulfilled life and about disregarding love, etc. The 'police officer' then fingerprints Jill and takes a mug shot of her. Jill says she feels persecuted over the whole thing.
Iyanla arrives for group. Today's group is about shame and guilt, which Iyanla calls two dysfunctional partners. She says shame is about feeling that something is wrong with us, and guilt is about feeling we did something wrong. Iyanla asks Jill what her first memory of having shame is, and Jill says it was when she was young and nobody picked her to be on their team. Allison says she was shamed when, in the fourth grade, a boy punched her breast (she started developing early), and said she couldn't tell if it was her breast or a fat roll. Iyanla finds that very interesting, considering Allison's experience with breast cancer... Iyanla says that shame is something that comes from outside and is projected onto you. It makes you feel that there is something intrinsically wrong with you. TJ says she felt shame when her parents told her she was 'out of control' and imperfect. Next they discuss guilt, which Iyanla says is the husband of shame. Guilt is when you feel bad about something you did. Jessica says she feels guilty that she cut off so many of her friends after 9/11. She shut everybody out, and she did so because she felt she was too emotional for them to deal with her (which is the shame aspect of her behavior). Iyanla says that until guilt/shame is resolved, honesty is not an option. Then she asks the women if there is anything they are ashamed of/feel guilty about since being in the house. Jill says she feels ashamed of gaining 5lbs. She says it feels unnatural to have to battle snacking, when the other women don't have to do that. Allison says she identifies with Jill, and just wants to be normal and eat like everybody else. Iyanla says the underlying belief is that 'something is wrong with who I am' (shame). That belief leads them to eat, which causes guilt (there's something wrong with what I've done). This pattern turns into a destructive cycle of feeling shame, eating, feeling fat, and then feeling guilty and wanting to punish yourself. She says that this cycle must be broken by healing the guilt/shame cycle. Group is adjourned.
Lisa talks to TJ about Allison wanting to be surprised for her birthday. TJ says it may or may not happen. Lisa feels that nobody is cooperating on trying to give Allison a nice birthday, and she can't believe the other housemates are not making any effort, since Allison makes so much of an effort for them.
Iyanla and Jill meet and discuss her indictments. Iyanla says the most serious charge is: Conspiracy to Live An Unfulfilling Life. Iyanla tells her to gather evidence and find expert witnesses to figure out how she violates the charges against her. She tells Jill she has to root out the thoughts and beliefs that created her behaviors.
Allison says that birthdays were always a really big deal when she was growing up. She says that she always had extraordinary birthdays, but that so far today seems very ordinary. She seems a little angry about it.
Rhonda arrives and meets with Jessica. The anniversary of 9/11 is a few days away and Jessica is upset about it. She says that whenever she sees a hi-rise building, she envisions planes crashing into it. Rhonda says Jessica should see the week of 9/11 as a week to honor herself and her mother. She has an exercise for Jessica: Mary Ann Halpin, the photographer, is going to come over today and meet with Jessica again. She is going to help Jessica create an exhibit in the house of Jessica's photographs. The exhibit will also include photos of Jessica's mom. Rhonda says Jessica is going to be the center of her own life now, and that she is going to shift her relationship with her mom to where she is not just a daughter, but an equal with her mom.
Jessica calls her sister, Stephanie and asks her how she is doing, since the anniversary of 9/11 is approaching. Stephanie says she is doing all right. She tells Jessica that she thinks their mom made them codependent. Jessica says she felt that her mom was the only person she needed--she didn't need anyone else, not even friends, and that it was dangerous to be that way. Stephanie says that's exactly what she means by the codependency.
Jill works on her assignment to hold herself accountable for the indictments. She is writing on a board labeled 'Jill's Still Active Behaviors', all the things she does that contribute to her not living a fulfilled life. Iyanla comes in and she and Jill go out to sit by the pool, and look over the list of behaviors Jill has created. Iyanla asks Jill who she conspires with to continue living an unfulfilled life. Jill says she conspires with TJ, and that they swap guilt stories and don't call each other on their behavior. Iyanla says it's interesting that Jill has aligned herself with TJ, when Jill is so much more similar to Allison. Iyanla says she bets Jill and TJ have a lot of things to say about Allison behind her back, and Jill admits that's true. Iyanla says Jill has 20 minutes to think of all the things she has said about Allison and then to tell the truth about everything she has said. Iyanla gets up and leaves Jill to think. Lisa comes out and talks to Jill, and Jill tells her she has to say what has so far been unsaid. Lisa asks if it's about her, and she tells her it isn't; it's about Allison. Lisa tells Jill she has a responsibility to say it, and not worry how others will react. Then they discuss Allison's birthday again. Lisa tells Jill how TJ said she might not have enough time because she is working on herself.
Mary Ann Halpin arrives to help Jessica set up her photography exhibit. They go over where she should set-up the exhibit, and talk a little about 9/11 and how Jessica is having a difficult time dealing with the anniversary of it.
TJ and Lisa are outside, and they appear to be hanging decorations for Allison's birthday. Iyanla comes out and tells Lisa to gather all the housemates and meet her in the sanctuary (where they have group). They all gather and Iyanla says she's calling a special meeting because the energy in the house is bad.
She says there is a 'funk' hanging over the house and that it is not allowing healing to take place. She wants the women to all be honest and to tell the absolute truth about anything they've been withholding from each other, and any gossiping they've done behind each other's backs. Iyanla asks Jill about the conversation they had in which Jill admitted she gossips about Allison to TJ. Jill says she and TJ feel like the 'bad girls' in the house and that Jill is having trouble connecting with Allison, who is her accountability partner. Jill says she feels Allison judges her, but then admits that it's probably because she judges Allison. Allison says she feels stunned that all this gossip was going on behind her back. Iyanla asks TJ what she has said about Allison, but TJ says she doesn't remember. TJ says she was just venting frustrations and nothing else. Iyanla says that the reason why she gossiped is not important--it's that she gossiped that matters. TJ says she is not perfect, and Iyanla says that TJ made a choice to gossip, and that if she'll talk bad about Allison to Jill, she will talk bad about Jill to someone else. Iyanla says TJ plays a part in making the group dishonest because of her gossip. Iyanla asks
Allison then says she feels her birthday is ruined because of this special meeting. Iyanla says that it doesn't have to be ruined--she can see it as a day of renewal. She tells Allison that if she can't do honesty with the women in the house, she won't be able to do it with her mom or her brother. Allison is crying. Iyanla leaves the women to have their conversations. Allison says she is mad about her birthday because it was supposed to be a special day, and so far it has 'sucked'. She then apologizes for not telling the women that birthdays are special to her. They tell her she has no need to apologize. TJ asks the women to leave the past in the past. She says she is changing every day, but she says she is not asking the women to change how they feel about her.
Allison and TJ talk about side. TJ says she feels rejected, but that she knows this is 'her stuff'. Then they hug and as they hug, TJ tells Allison she doesn't trust her.
Lisa and Jessica go to get Allison's favorite cobbler for her birthday. In the van, Lisa says she can't stand TJ's voice... Jessica reminds her to be emotionally honest.
Allison receives flowers from her mom for her birthday. Allison says she has given up on the dream of a 'pomp and circumstance' birthday, and realizes that maybe that's not what birthdays are about--she says maybe they are about reflecting on your life.
Preview: Jill must tak a harsh look at herself. Allison gets some encouragement from Magic Johnson. Lisa has serous doubts about her next assignment.

Odds And Ends
I received Andy Paige's December newsletter yesterday. I'm not much of a fashion diva, but I find her newsletters entertaining and fairly informative... You can read it here.
If you want to venture into mini-spoilers for the upcoming week, you can check out Reality Reel. There seems to be an interesting development Monday, when Jill finds out she has been 'indicted'. Hmmm. I wonder what that's all about.
I received Iyanla's book, Yesterday, I Cried, for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I read it in less than three days (I couldn't put it down!). I plan on writing a review of it when I get some extra time in the coming days. It is a very powerful book--Iyanla gives some really good insight into her past, and into what led her to where she is now. Iyanla really lets it all hang out in terms of her past experiences, etc. I once read somewhere that if everything you were ever embarrassed about, felt guilty over, etc., were published on the front page of the New York Times, you would initially be mortified, but then you would feel like the freest person in the world because then you would have nothing left to hide. That is one of the many reasons why I think Starting Over is so interesting. All these dark family secrets come out, and while many of the women initially try to hide their pasts and protect themselves and their families on the show (which is certainly understandable), when it all surfaces they seem so much happier and free. You have to be a very brave person to go on television and expose your biggest 'failings' and vulnerabilities, so I always give the women of Starting Over a lot of credit, and I am seldom judgmental about their particular foibles and personality quirks. Their honesty and courage helps so many people...

Allison's Farewell Ceremony
The show begins with Jessica talking about feeling disconnected as the anniversary of 9/11 approaches. It is three days away and she is feeling upset.
Iyanla and Allison meet and discuss the experience they had during the refrigerator exercise. Allison says she was terrified when Iyanla got in her face. Iyanla tells Allison how positive it was that she walked away, and says when you leave other people alone with their mess, they will clean it up themselves. Iyanla says Allison has had a significant breakthrough. She says it is time to put to rest the pain Allison has been carrying around, and tells Allison that a car will pick her up at 7PM, and that she should dress like she is going to mourn.
Rhonda arrives for group. She shows a photo on the plasma of a young man who is dressed sort of in a 'gangsta' style, and asks the women for their judgments. They say he looks cool, posing, hiding, etc. Rhonda wants to talk about judgments and says that when we judge others, we give ourselves permission to blame. She says we miss out on connections when we make judgments about people. Jill says that the more she sees herself in others, the easier it is to connect with them. Then Rhonda brings in the man who was in the photo, only now he is dressed in a suit. His name is Farrah Gray, and he is a 20 year old entrepreneur, author and is already a millionaire. He says he came from the projects and always aspired to be a millionaire. People judged him a lot and he had to overcome a great deal of bias in order to realize his dream. Rhonda announces that Farrah will be working with one of the women today. Group is adjourned.
TJ is outside with Jill talking about
Rhonda and Lisa meet and Rhonda asks Lisa how it feels to be a guest in the house. Lisa says she feels cut off. Then they discuss her backbone exercise and the qualities she does/doesn't have that encompass having a backbone. Farrah Gray then comes out and Rhonda tells Lisa he is going to help her sell those necklaces that she never sold the other day.
Alison calls her mom and they talk about her brother, Jimmy's problems. He is drinking a lot and had to go to the hospital. He is not eating, and Allison's mom wants her to come home and help out. Allison tries to stay detached from the drama, and does a fairly good job of not getting caught up in it.
Farrah Gray and Lisa arrive at Pink's Hot Dog Stand to sell the necklaces. They set out the necklaces, but Lisa tells Farrah she can't do it (sell the necklaces). Farrah tells her she is freezing... He tells her to make an announcement to the people at the stand that she is selling the necklaces. Lisa looks very uncomfortable and is nervous.
Jessica and Rhonda meet and Jessica is crying, upset about the approaching 9/11 anniversary. She says all the memories are crashing down on her and she feels uncomfortable in her own skin. She says she is up and down, and feels super jittery. Rhonda tells her that she wasn't expecting to lose her mom, but when she did, her body reacted by anticipating that something bad would happen. She says it is called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She explains that the feelings of 9/11 are still locked inside her. She tells Jessica she wants her to meet with a PTSD specialist today.
Jill returns from a doctor's appointment. She had an injection that may help shrink her tumors, which will buy her some time to lose weight before the surgery.
Lisa and Farrah are still at Pink's, selling the jewelry. Lisa says she feels stupid, and like she is bothering people. She approaches several people and they all turn her down. Farrah then helps her--he approaches a table of people who are eating and gets them to buy one of the necklaces. Farrah says the enemy of achievement is staying in your comfort zone, and that the power to do anything she wants is inside of Lisa. Lisa then begins to sell her necklaces, and winds up selling them all. Then she and Farrah eat lunch. Lisa is very happy about her achievement. Farrah gives her some tips. He says to ask herself three questions: What comes easier to me and harder for others? What would I do everyday and never get paid for it? And, How can I give back to the world? Lisa says she isn't sure of the answers to those questions yet, but that she loves people, and likes to interview them.
Jessica meets with the PTSD specialist, Dr. Debra Mandel. Dr. Mandel says PTSD is a normal reaction to an abnormal event, and that the body is still living the event. She asks Jessica what triggers memories, and Jessica says that high-rise buildings and certain burning smells are triggers. She tells Jessica that the longer she waits to deal with PTSD, the harder it is to deal with it... Jessica thanks her for her insights and leaves.
Iyanla gathers the women in the living room and tells them that Allison is going to have a farewell ceremony that evening at a funeral home and they are to attend (it is like a funeral). She gives Jessica the option of not going if it would be too difficult for her. Jessica decides to go.
Allison arrives at the funeral home and meets privately with Iyanla. Iyanla asks her if she is ready to walk through the fire and get to the other side. Allison says she is, but she is scared. Iyanla says this is an opportunity to put things to rest and they enter the main room where Allison's housemates are gathered. There is a coffin at the front of the room, just like a real funeral. Iyanla makes a speech, and says it is time for Allison to dance on the eve of her birthday. It is a time to complete the cycle of pain and suffering and to be reborn. Allison's housemates watch as the ceremony begins. Allison is standing next to the coffin, crying, and Iyanla hands her a shirt and a knife. These things represent Allison's father and the violence he committed. Allison puts the shirt and knife in the coffin and says that she hopes her father is in a better place now, where he is no longer in pain. She says it is time for her to move on. It is a very emotional and moving gesture. Then Iyanla gives her a bottle of alcohol to symbolize her dad's alcoholism, and Allison puts that in the coffin. Next Iyanla hands Allison an apron, which symbolizes the painful ties to her mom. Allison puts the apron in the coffin and says how sorry she is that her mom had to go through so much pain with both her dad and her brother. She says she wants her mom to come with her on the journey towards moving forward, but even if her mom doesn't come along, Allison has to move forward or she will die. Then Iyanla gives her a glass jar which represents cancer and Allison puts it in the coffin. Iyanla then hands her a bra, which symbolizes the loss of Allison's breasts. Allison puts it in the coffin and Iyanla says it is time to let them go. Finally Iyanla gives Allison a doll, which represents that Allison is not physically capable of giving birth. She tells Allison it is time to put to rest the dream of giving birth, and Allison puts the doll in the coffin. Then she closes the lid, and Iyanla says, 'so it is'. Then Iyanla gives a present to Allison--Allison opens it to find a board that shows Allison has received two more steps: Discover Love Through Acceptance and Creating Order and Focus. Allison is very happy about receiving the steps. Then her housemates speak a few words. TJ says the real Allison, with tears, etc., is better. Jill tells Allison 'thank you' for being strong, and for helping so many others by being so courageous. Iyanla says 'thank you' for pushing me back (the other day), and for walking away from other people's crap. She then tells Allison congratulations and happy birthday.
The women are back at the house, and are in the kitchen talking about the ceremony. It effected all the women--Jill and Jessica both feel very emotional about it. Allison then goes and gets a glass of wine. Allison says she knows she is using alcohol to numb and to escape feelings. She doesn't know if that makes her a borderline alcoholic. Lisa wishes that Allison would give up the alcohol.
Preview for next week: The house divides. Lisa goes on a rampage. Jessica must face a difficult day.

Iyanla Pushes Allison, and Allison Pushes Back!
The show starts with Lisa in the guest room, talking about how weird it is to be sleeping in there. She says she is going to have to fight hard, or she fears she will be asked to leave. A man holding a skeleton then arrives at the front door, and Lisa answers. The skeleton is for Lisa, and has a note from Rhonda attached explaining that Lisa must get a backbone. The phone rings, and Lisa answers. It is Rhonda and she has an assignment for Lisa. Lisa must go out on the street and interview people today about what it takes to have a backbone. Then later she is to interview her housemates about the same topic.
Jill and Jessica have a conversation about Allison. Jill says she feels that Allison is fake and does not trust her.
Iyanla arrives for group. Today's topic is emotional dishonesty. She says everybody in the room does it, and that they do it all day long. She says when we don't express our emotions, we must suppress the energy that they create and then carry that energy around with us. She asks the women if there's anything they're being dishonest about in the house. Jill says the way Allison expresses herself is more 'acceptable' to the other housemates than how she expresses herself. She says it makes her angry that they don't accept her self-expression in the same way they do Allison's. Allison says that she never tells anyone how she's truly feeling because she feels so much shame/guilt. Jill tells Allison she doesn't trust her and can't approach her with intimate thoughts because her energy is so fake. Lisa says she used to not trust Allison, but that Allison has given her a lot of support, so now she does. Allison says it feels like nobody likes her and that makes her feel worthless and like she doesn't deserve to exist. Iyanla tells Allison she keeps finding ways to destroy herself and that she will live a very lonely life until that is healed. She tells Allison she is going to put on the kerchief and muumuu again today.
Iyanla and
Iyanla and Allison meet outside. Iyanla reveals a small refrigerator. She opens it up and inside is a filthy, horrible mess. There is rotting food all inside, and each item of food is labeled with a negative emotion/experience Allison needs to heal. Allison starts crying, and Iyanla tells her that it's time for Allison to clean all that stuff that is inside her. She tells her to name names and lay it all on the line. Iyanla says Allison must face the ugliness on the inside and tear off her fake mask, so that she can give/receive love. She leave Allison to clean up the refrigerator. Allison finds the job awful and repulsive. The mess inside that refrigerator is absolutely nauseating.
Lisa goes out on the street and asks people about what it means to have a backbone. They tell her it means a person is strong, assertive, has integrity and character, etc. One guy tells her she has a backbone because she wasn't afraid to approach him and ask him the question.
Allison has cleaned the refrigerator spotless, and the old food is in a pile nearby. Iyanla returns and asks how she removed the food--Allison says with her hands! Iyanla asks how does she remove the pain she has inside from watching her mother get abused over and over, and then tells Allison she doesn't get it (the exercise). Then Iyanla gets the old food and starts throwing it in the refrigerator, ruining Allison's work. Allison gets very upset and tells her not to do it. Iyanla asks her who is going to stop her... Allison tries to block Iyanla. Then Iyanla yells at her: ‘This is your life!! When are you going to stop taking this sh*t?!’ Allison's says ‘now!’. Then Iyanla gets in her face and asks her ‘what are you going to do?' When are you going to say NO MORE? NO MORE?’ Allison breaks down sobbing.
Allison and Iyanla are still outside at the refrigerator. Iyanla asks Allison, ‘what are you going to do when it's in your face?’ Iyanla gets up in Allison's face, and provokes her. Allison finally pushes Iyanla (!!). Iyanla continues and says, ‘when are you going to say, just get the hell out of my face?’ She asks Allison what Lisa is doing today, and Allison says she is getting a backbone. Iyanla asks Allison where her backbone is. Iyanla has thrown the old food all over the refrigerator, and it's a mess. She asks Allison whose crap that is, and Allison says, ‘not mine!!’. Then Iyanla tells Allison to go into the house.
Allison takes a shower, and then tells Jessica about her exercise with Iyanla. She says she is still shaking from it. She says she knows it's possible for her to be happy, but that she feels ashamed that she hasn't been able to clean up the 'filth' inside her yet.
Lisa talks to
After Allison's shower, she goes back outside to Iyanla and the refrigerator. The refrigerator is completely cleaned up again, and Iyanla says that if you just leave people alone with their crap, they will clean it up themselves. They sit down to talk, and Allison tells Iyanla that she scared her (in a sort of funny way). Iyanla says, 'you pushed me!' She tells Allison that she took a stand today and that if she can do that with Iyanla, she can do that in the world. Iyanla says emotions are messy, and that's why people don't want to deal with them, but that if you don't deal with them, they can be deadly.
Iyanla and Allison are still talking. Iyanla tells her that when the mess is gone, she gets new life. She gives Allison a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables. Each item is labeled with a positive word--like passionate, frisky, excited. She tells Allison to write on the back of each label, 'I am'. Then she tells Allison that she loves her and Allison says she loves her too.
Lisa works on her backbone for the skeleton. She has wooden spools and each represents a vertebrate for the backbone of the skeleton. She writes on each spool a characteristic that creates a backbone--courage, confidence, guts, etc.
The women all sit down to eat dinner and Allison tells them about her big day with Iyanla. She says it was unbelievable. Allison is drinking a big glass of wine as she tells the women about the experience. Later in the one on one room, Jessica says she can see that Allison had a big breakthrough today, but she wishes she wouldn't drink to numb her feelings about it.
Lisa calls Rhonda about her daily report. She says she had a good experience with interviewing the people on the street and gives herself an 'A' for her day's work. She says Jill gave her an 'A' too. Rhonda tells her she has earned another night in the house.
Allison opens another bottle of wine... The other women are outside discussing Allison drinking. They say she is really drunk tonight. Allison goes outside and tells them all good night, and does look very tipsy. They all seem very worried about Allison's drinking habits...
Preview (for Friday): Allison faces her biggest fear. Jessica tries to overcome a growing problem Lisa's skills are put to the test.

Lisa Doesn't Live Here Anymore
The show starts with a continuation of yesterday's Board of Review. Rhonda tells Lisa to take her grade like a grown-up and then gives Lisa a 'D'. Rhonda says no one has ever gotten a 'D' in the Starting Over house before... She tells Lisa that she must pack her bags and then live out of those bags. She can have no decorations on the walls and nothing in the dresser drawers. Rhonda says Lisa is a special case and that she and her housemates are not ready to give up on her. Lisa thanks Rhonda for giving her another chance and the BoR is over.
Jessica says she feels that Lisa is one of their sisters in the house and Jill says she doesn't want anyone to ever give up on her, so she won't give up on Lisa. Meanwhile, TJ and Allison have a discussion. TJ tells Allison she doesn't like what Allison said about her in the BoR--that she has panic attacks. TJ says she doesn't have panic attacks. Allison says she does have a form of them. TJ then accuses Allison of having panic attacks too. Allison tells TJ she said it because they have to spend so much time working on TJ's problems in the house. TJ counters by saying that they have to spend a lot of time on Allison's problems too. She then tells Allison she should focus on herself instead...
Lisa is sitting on her bed and Rhonda comes in and they hug. Lisa is very upset and crying over the 'D'. Rhonda tells her it's all up to her now. She tells Lisa she is to move into the guest room. Lisa says she doesn't know what to do/say, and Rhonda tells her that she guesses Lisa always feels this way, but that she normally just uses a flippant attitude, etc., to avoid those feelings. Lisa packs her things and moves into the guest room.
Iyanla and
Rhonda and TJ meet. Rhonda has created a large scoreboard for TJ with all the housemates names on it. She says TJ likes to 'keep score' and is always worried that she is giving more support then she gets. She tells TJ that from now on she will keep track of every time someone gives her support by giving them a point on the scoreboard, and she should give herself a point anytime she gives one of her housemates support.
TJ goes and gets all the housemates and they gather in the living room. Rhonda tells them all about the scorecard TJ is going to keep from now on. Rhonda wants TJ to learn from this exercise that you cannot keep a score on giving/receiving love.
Iyanla arrives and the women meet for group. She asks Lisa how she feels, and Lisa says she feels she doesn't have a clue and is vulnerable. Iyanla goes over and sits next to Lisa on the couch. She hugs her and Lisa cries. Iyanla goes to sit back down, and ask Lisa how that felt. Lisa says she is not used to feeling vulnerable, and has never felt safe enough before now to be vulnerable. Next Iyanla brings in a collection of miscellaneous items--pizza boxes, water bottles, etc. She asks each woman what's one thing they have left uncompleted. She then gives them an item for each thing they have left uncompleted in their lives. The women are all sitting there with laps full of the items, and Iyanla says this is what incompleteness looks like. Iyanla says they must achieve closure over these things. Group is adjourned.
Rhonda leaves a note on Allison's bed. It says that Allison should do something nice for TJ that evening so that TJ will feel special and supported in the house.
Iyanla and Jill meet. Iyanla says Jill has made incredible progress, but that bigger things are always just around the corner. She asks Jill how many incompletions in her life are related to fear, and Jill says 90% of them. Iyanla says every fear and every incompletion is connected to a dream. She then reveals a 'wheel of dreams'. Jill is to write down her dreams on pieces of paper and affix them to the wheel--the wheel looks like a vertical version of the 'Wheel of Fortune' wheel.
Allison is going to throw a surprise party for TJ because of Rhonda's instructions. Jessica is resistant to the idea because she says she is tired of proving to TJ that she supports her.
TJ goes with Jill to Jenny Craig for a weigh-in. Jill is shocked to learn she has gained 4lbs. She tells the Jenny Craig consultant that she has been eating too many snacks and that she overdid it on her birthday. He says it's good that she is not in denial about her eating, and that she will learn from this experience.
Allison and the housemates are getting ready for TJ's dinner party. The other housemates are not into it, however, and Allison feels that they are being forced into having the party. Jessica says she feels disconnected from the whole thing.
TJ and Jill arrive back at the house, and TJ and Lisa have a talk. Lisa tells TJ she isn't angry with her for saying she should leave at the BoR. She thinks TJ was just saying what everybody really thought but were too afraid to say. TJ says she would do anything for Lisa, except carry her. She tells Lisa to remember that no matter what, they always have each other's back.
Iyanla and Jill meet. Jill has finished writing down her dreams and placing them on the 'wheel of dreams'. Iyanla spins the wheel and it lands on, 'experience being loved by a beautiful man'. Jill says she has never experienced that. Then Jill tells Iyanla about the weight gain. Iyanla says this is called 'slippage'. Iyanla says this is part of the cycle of incompleteness. She says that somewhere inside Jill is a broken commitment that needs to be healed. She gets Jill to write down all the things that are incomplete in her life. She writes each one down (past due bills, weight, cutting corners, not doing what she says she'll do), and then Iyanla puts them over the dreams on the wheel. She says these incomplete things make it impossible to realize the dreams. She says the incomplete cycles of action will kill Jill's dreams. She tells Jill she must bring to closure all the incompleteness in order to realize her dreams.
Lisa has to write a daily report to Rhonda now as a condition of her probation. She says she now has constant fear and feels she is living on the edge in the house. She could be asked to leave at any time.
Iyanla reads
TJ's party begins. All the women are at the table, and Allison announces that the party is for TJ. TJ says she is in shock and that she shouldn't have totally disrespected them yesterday when she said they didn't give her enough support. Then TJ goes on and on, talking about how she was coming from a childlike place, and that she is going to try to get connected, etc. She also says she feels 'uncomfortable'.
After the party, Lisa calls Rhonda and Rhonda tells her she got her report, and that she has earned another night in the house. Lisa feels like a burden has been lifted, at least temporarily, but she has to go through this exercise every day now.
Iyanla arrives and

A Big Board of Review
The show starts with the women going out for breakfast. As they sit down to eat, a couple in the table next to them starts arguing loudly. The women are uncomfortable about it--Allison thinks that she must attract conflict wherever she goes, and Lisa says the guy is probably going to cheat on the woman. Allison and Lisa are sort of joking about the arguing couple a little, and TJ says she thinks it's rude for them to do that. Then TJ gets up and goes over to the couple. She tells the woman that the whole restaurant can hear their argument. The woman tells TJ she is very humiliated and apologizes. The women cannot believe TJ actually approached the arguing couple. Lisa says TJ thinks she is Dr. Phil. Jessica says she would have been 'pissed' if someone had approached her like that. TJ will not tell the women what she said to the couple after she comes back to the table.
Back at the house, Rhonda arrives and they have group. Rhonda says today's group is about drama. Lisa then tells Rhonda what happened at the restaurant with the arguing couple. Rhonda admits to them that the whole thing was a set up to see how they would react to the drama. Lisa tells Rhonda how TJ went over and confronted them. Rhonda seems a little surprised by that. She says that TJ inserted herself into the middle of the drama. Then the women tell Rhonda about how TJ wouldn't tell them what she said to the couple, and Rhonda said that was a way to further increase the drama. At this point, TJ starts crying. She says that no matter what she does, she feels she is being rejected at every turn and that she can't handle it anymore. She is now really crying hard and yelling that she needs more patience and more support. She says she doesn't know what she's doing. Rhonda asks her how it feels to be the catalyst for drama, and TJ says she doesn't want the focus to be on her anymore. Rhonda tells her that if you are looing for rejection, you'll find it. If you're looking for inadequate support, you'll get it. Then she moves on from TJ. She tells all the women that they can have 'drama' or they can have a life. She then announces that there is a Board of Review tonight. Lisa fears she will be asked to leave. Group is adjourned.
Iyanla arrives and meets with
Rhonda and Lisa meet. Lisa is excited to show her the necklaces she completed for the assignment Rhonda gave her (to make 25 necklaces). She says she is embarrassed over how she complained about making them because she got such a feeling of satisfaction when she was finished. Rhonda tells Lisa she has to get sell her necklaces and she only has an hour. She tells her not to come back to the house with any necklaces. She then gives her directions for where she is to go to sell them. Lisa says she is freaked out and worried about this assignment.
Lisa prepares to leave, and Allison tries to help her get ready. Allison says Lisa is falling apart on her. Lisa arrives at Pink's Hot Dog Stand. She tries to approach several people, but they all turn her down for a sale. She looks very sad... She then sets up a table with all of her necklaces. Realizing that she's not selling anything, she calls Rhonda and leaves a message saying she isn't selling anything, and that she fears being asked to leave if she doesn't.
Iyanla and
Iyanla meets with Jill and they discuss Jill's health issues. Jill tells her that doctors from the second opinion she got told her to lose weight and be in optimal health before getting the surgery. Iyanla says that Jill is demonstrating a deeper understanding of her self worth. She tells Jill to go get her bag of unworthiness. Jill does and when she returns, Iyanla takes out a piece of clothing from the bag, and cuts it up with scissors. She tells Jill to continue cutting up all the clothes inside the bag--they represent her feelings of unworthiness and it's time to get rid of them.
Lisa is still at Pink's trying to sell the jewelry. She finally makes one sale, and then her hour is up. She puts away the jewelry and heads home. She says the only question is whether she should just leave the house, or wait to get kicked out since she didn't complete another assignment.
Back at the house, Lisa calls Rhonda again. This time Rhonda answers. She tells Rhonda that she didn't sell the jewelry, and Rhonda tells her she could have gotten rid of the necklaces in many different ways (giving them away?). Lisa asks if there is anything she can do, and if she can have another chance... Rhonda says prepare herself because the BoR is in 1 1/2 hours.
The women get ready for the Bor. Everybody seems nervous. Jill says the BoR is like going to court, and nobody wants to go to court. Rhonda and Iyanla arrive and the BoR begins.
Jill is called up first. Iyanla asks what she is doing well, and Jill says she is using her assignments to move forward in her life. She gives herself an 'A', and Iyanla asks her to justify it. Jill says she has given 100% of who and what she is to the process of starting over. Iyanla asks the housemates for positive feedback for Jill. Lisa says Jill has become very proactive and Jessica says she has seen a change in Jill's energy. Iyanla says, 'speaking to one broad-hipped, big black woman to another' she she knows they get so good at taking punches, that they start taking the punches just because they can. She says the result of taking these punches in Jill's case is the tumor and excess weight. Jill starts crying. Iyanla says she knows the truth about Jill--she saw the truth when Jill competed the obstacle course (they show a flashback), and when she stood out on the balcony and asked the universe for what she wanted (another flashback). But she says Jill went into action because she has a tumor, not because she was pursuing wonderful things for herself. She asks Jill when she is going to stop wearing the superwoman cape. Jill says she sees herself as valuable now just because she exists. Iyanla says she doesn't know whether she truly believes her, but she feels that Jill has internalized her learning experience and she gives her an 'A'. Rhonda says Jill is the epitome of starting over. Jill sits down.
Then Lisa is called to the podium. Rhonda asks her why she is there, and Lisa says her goal is to grow up. Rhonda tells her to throw away the 'right answers' and tell her why she is really here. Lisa says it because she was miserable and tired of shifting around and not accomplishing anything in her life. (They show Lisa in the one-on one room, and she says the scene at the BoR is very surreal. She feels very detached during the whole thing.) Rhonda asks her what she is not doing and Lisa says she does not trust herself. Rhonda mentions the assignment she had today and that she didn't complete it. Then Rhonda asks Lisa what grade she gives herself and she says a 'B'. Rhonda asks for positive feedback from her housemates. TJ says Lisa is more accepting and aware when she has made a mistake. Allison says Lisa has sacrificed sleep, etc., to get her assignments done. Then the women give her constructive criticism.
Rhonda says nobody is allowed to stay after three failed assignments. She says they can all support Lisa, but she must do the work. She asks Lisa if she is ready to fight for her life, and Lisa says she is, but that she doesn't know what to do differently. Lisa is now crying hard and choking/coughing. She's very upset. Rhonda says Lisa has to drop her flippant attitude and her psychological jargon. Then she tells Lisa she is going to give her a grade and that she should take the grade as a grown up. And the show ends with this cliffhanger!

Forgiveness and Lisa Makes More Jewelry
The episode begins with Lisa showing Jill the jewelry she made for the assignment. She is not happy with the quality of her work, and was up until 4AM working on the necklaces. Jill has an appointment at the hospital to discuss financial options for her surgery.
The women gather for group, and Lisa tells them she is sorry for lashing out at them yesterday. She says she feels ashamed of herself. Dr. Stan arrives to run the group, and says that today's group is about forgiveness. He asks the women how they handle forgiveness and whether it is easy for them to forgive. Jill says she is willing to forgive friends, but has trouble forgiving her family. Allison says she never allows herself to feel the anger over being hurt by someone, so she can't get to the forgiveness. She tends to just blame herself when anyone hurts her. Lisa says she is quick to forgive without first feeling the feelings of anger. Jessica says she was raised to be forgiving, but tends to build evidence against a person after they've hurt her once. Stan tells them that forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. He brings out an olive branch, which is a symbol of peace/forgiveness, and lays it on the table. He tells the women to write a letter of forgiveness to their parent/s for a forgiveness ceremony that Rhonda is going to hold this evening. Group is adjourned.
Dr. Stan and TJ meet. He asks her how she is connecting in the house, and TJ says she is having trouble.
Allison works on her forgiveness letter to her father. She says she is having a hard time forgiving him.
Rhonda and Lisa meet and Lisa shows Rhonda the necklaces she made. Lisa is not happy wih them at all because she thinks they are not good enough quality to sell. Rhonda asks her if she has prepared invoices for the jewelry, and Lisa says she hasn't. Then Lisa and Rhonda go watch the video of the appointments Lisa had with the shop owners to make sure that Lisa has fulfilled the order she promised. As they watch Lisa meeting with each shop owner, Lisa realizes that she was lying to all of them and that the had no intention of filling the orders she took from them that day. She still doesn't have the orders completed even after staying up all night working on them, and Rhonda is disappointed that Lisa is so unprepared.
Jessica works on her forgiveness letter to her father. She is trying to forgive him for the way he behaved after her mother's death. TJ is outside with the kids. They are running all over the place, and TJ doesn't seem to have much control over the situation.
Rhonda and Lisa continue their discussion. Rhonda tells her she has to deliver the necklaces she made to the shop owners today, and that she also has another order for Lisa: Rhonda wants 25 more necklaces by tomorrow. She asks Lisa if she can do it, and Lisa looks anxious--doesn't really answer...
Jill goes to
The kids are now running through the house playing, and TJ has lost all control. She says they are not listening to her and she feels a little overwhelmed.
Lisa goes to the jewelry stores to give them her necklaces. Things go well at the first store, but at the second store, the shop owner is a little terse with her at first, and says she is late in her delivery... Also, one of the necklaces is broken, so she can only give him 4 of the 5 she promised.
Jill goes to
TJ reads a story to the kids, but they're not really that into it. Lisa tries to take a nap, and Allison feels that Lisa doesn't really have a clue about what s going on.
Stan returns and the children leave. Then he and TJ meet to discuss the experience she had babysitting. Stan says TJ tried hard, and he gives her an A for effort. He says, however, that TJ came on too strong when she immediately asked the kids to hug her. He said that is uncomfortable for the kids, and too aggressive. He says she needed to relax and let the kids com to her. He relates the way she interacted with the kids with the problems she has in connecting with people. She comes on too strong with others, and intimidates people that way.
Rhonda and Lisa meet to talk about her day delivering the necklaces. Lisa tells her how one of the charms fell off of the necklaces, and Rhonda asks her if, after that happened, she checked the other necklaces before going to the next store. Lisa says she didn't. Rhonda asks her if she (Lisa) always needs to be checked/watched, and Lisa starts crying. She says she is trying, and Rhonda says Lisa is becoming defensive. She tells Lisa she doesn't buy her tears or her manipulations. She asks Lisa what she wants from the SO house, and Lisa says she doesn't want everything to be such an effort for her. Rhonda says things are going to be challenging for a long time for Lisa until she grows a backbone. Lisa says it's hard to change old habits. Rhonda says that Lisa is acting like the SO house is against her and that she is argumentative and defensive. She asks Lisa what she, as her life coach, is supposed to do when Lisa acts that way. Lisa is crying and she tells Rhonda she wants to ask for help now. Rhonda tells her she must be willing to do the work to grow up. She tells Lisa she is looking for to seeing the 'grown up Lisa'.
TJ works on her forgiveness letter, and Lisa tells Jessica about the meeting she had with Rhonda. She says Rhonda told also told her that if she remains childish, she will never get to experience giving/receiving love. Lisa says she can't run away from the house, and that she will never get the things she wants.
The women meet outside for the forgiveness ceremony with Rhonda. Rhonda says that forgiveness happens in layers. It is something you must do over and over again. She says that when we let go of bitterness and resentment, it sets us free. Then she says each woman will read her letter and then decide whether to send the letter or burn it. They all read their letters (they only show clips of each woman reading). They are all very touching, especially Allison's letter. Allison cries as she talks about her father's drunken rages, he didn't realize how badly he hurt her, and she says she forgives him. Lisa's letter, however, is accusatory and doesn't sound very forgiving. Rhonda says Lisa just doesn't 'get it'. All the women, except Lisa, decide to mail the letter instead of burning it. Lisa burns hers.
After the ceremony, Lisa goes to work on the 25 necklaces Rhonda wants by tomorrow. She says she wants to give up, and asks TJ if she should just call Rhonda and tell her she can't do it. TJ tells her not to call Rhonda, and not to give up. Jessica is worried that Lisa is going to give up on the SO house, and then the house will give up on her. Lisa says the act of making these necklaces is killing her.
Preview for next week: Allison is pushed to a place she doesn't want to go. TJ has a breakdown.

Lisa Has a Meltdown
The episode begins with TJ making coffee and Lisa talking about her mom's visit. She says that her mom didn't want to come to the house, but that she wound up getting a lot out of her visit. Lisa then mentions the jewelry assignment she didn't complete. She tells Allison that she has decided it is no big deal that she didn't finish it, and that she is not worried and it is not important. Allison, however, knows Lisa is going to have big trouble from not completing it.
Dr. Stan and Jill meet and talk about the conversation Jill had with her mom. Jill says she is happy she told her mom she wasn't going to live with her anymore, but at the same time she feels some sadness and wonders where she will go from here. Stan says Jill is doing good work, and that it's OK to feel sadness about it, but that Jill's conversation with her mom was a big success for her. Stan tells Jill she is going to go to a radio station today and meet with Lisa Garr, a radio host for The Aware Show. Jill is going to share her story on the radio to give other people inspiration.
Josie and Chloe arrive.
Rhonda and Dr. Stan arrive for a meeting with Lisa. Lisa says she doesn't have a good feeling about this meeting. They sit down and Lisa starts saying she had 'confusion' over her exercise, and that she hasn't completed it. Rhonda shows her a video tape of her meetings with the jewelry store owners, in which she made appointments with them to return with jewelry she was to make... She never showed up for those appointments. Stan tells Lisa she is there to learn the things she didn't learn as a child/young adult. Lisa starts crying. Rhonda asks why she didn't call her if she was having trouble, and Lisa says she doesn't know why. Rhonda asks her if she knew she was failing to do her assignment, and Lisa says she did. Stan suggests that Lisa may not be ready for the SO house, and Lisa cries and says she doesn't want to leave. She asks Stan and Rhonda if she can start over again. Rhonda says this is the second time she would have started over in the house, and that nobody stays in the house after failing two exercises. Lisa says she can't go home without finishing, but Rhonda says she certainly can. Rhonda tells her that she and Dr. Stan are not her mom and dad. Stan asks Lisa what would be different if they give her another chance. Lisa continues crying, and doesn't really answer. Rhonda brings out the baby dress Lisa had to wear previously, and asks Lisa whether she wants to be a little girl, or grow up. Lisa says she wants to be an adult. Stan says then there should be no more tears because she is crying instead of taking charge. Rhonda tells Lisa she has 24 hours to clean up her mess. She has to call all the store owners and apologize for not keeping her appointments, and she has to fulfill her orders for the jewelry and take them to each store. It all must be done by tomorrow. Stan says if she does it, it will prove she is motivated.
Jill arrives at the radio station, 90.7 FM to do 'The Aware Show' with Lisa Garr. Jill tells her story on air, and they talk about not having health insurance, and how 45 million people in this country aren't insured. She talks about her health problems, and how the SO house is helping her face these long-standing issues with her health that she had been avoiding. Lisa Garr asks Jill if she has any advice for people, and Jill says people should 'get off the couch', make a list of things they think they cannot do, and then make that list a 'to-do' list. Jill does a really great job on the show.
The women all meet for group with Rhonda. Today's issue is about forgivness. She asks, 'when are we going to stop blaming our parents?' She says the way to stop blaming is to forgive. She asks
Dr. Stan, Josie and
Lisa calls one of the jewelry store owners and tells him she has been a 'naughty girl' for not keeping her appointment with him. She asks if she can bring her jewelry to his store tomorrow, and he agrees.
The parenting expert, Martha Gross, arrives and Stan introduces her to
Lisa calls the other store owners and apologizes for not showing up for the appointments. She says she feels humiliated having to do this, and doesn't want people to see her this way. The store owners agree to meet with her tomorrow.
Josie keeps lingering at the house, saying goodbye to Chloe a bunch of times. She is having a hard time leaving Chloe with Jessica. She finally leaves, and Jessica and Chloe play together--color, etc. They seem to be having a good time.
Josie and
Lisa goes to the store for jewelry supplies, so she can finish making the jewelry for tomorrow's appointments. She says she feels overwhelmed.
Josie and
Stan meets with Jill to discuss her radio appearance. Jill says it went great. She says she feels comfortable using her voice to talk about things that are important, and feels right at home back on the air. She was on the air for 15 years, but stopped about 2 years ago. She said it was like she had never stopped.
Lisa is back home and struggling with the jewelry-making. She says she doesn't want to do it, but has to do it to get what she wants... Josie and
The women sit at the dining room table, and Lisa is trying to work on her jewelry. She is frustrated, and then asks Jessica to give back the necklace she had given her so she can sell it tomorrow. Jessica gives it back, and Jill makes a negative comment about Lisa doing that. Lisa gets angry and says she will pay Jessica for it. Jill tells Lisa that they all support her; but that she makes it very difficult to do so with the way she acts.
TJ, Jessica and Jill sit outside, and Lisa is still sitting at the table working on the jewelry. Allison goes to help Lisa, but TJ doesn't want her to help because she feels Allison is enabling Lisa. So TJ goes in and tries get Allison to stop helping Lisa (she asks Allison if she wants her to do her hair). Lisa gives TJ the 'evil eye' and Allison says she is going to stay and help Lisa. TJ then walks out and slams the door.
Preview: Frustration in the house hits an all time high. Lisa may have finally run out of chances with Rhonda. TJ learns what it's like to be a mom.

Josie And Chloe Visit
The show begins with Josie and Chloe arriving at the SO house. Josie is going through a tough time, and wants to get some additional support. The women greet Josie and Chloe, and Josie tells them a little about her life since graduating. She says she lives with her mom in
For group today, Rhonda wants to discuss abuse. She has tied her hands together with a belt, and says that it symbolizes how we get shackled by abusive relationships. Rhonda says that when someone blames you for everything and uses your guilt and shame against you, that is emotional abuse. In that kind of relationship, the abuser tells you that if you would just get 'fixed' everything would be OK. Jill says that she and her mother abuse each other and that they had a better relationship with her mom when they didn't live together. She says she used to have friends visit her, etc., but since living with her mom, she has been isolated. Rhonda says that isolation from friends/family is another sign you're in an abusive relationship. Allison says her whole family is abusive--her mom, dad, brother, grandparents, and even herself. Rhonda asks her if her mom has ever apologized for raising her in an abusive situation, and Allison says she hasn't. Rhonda passes out a belt with a key on it to each woman. They have to wear the 'handcuffs' until they call a person in their lives with whom they need to set a boundary. Both Allison and Jill must call their moms. Jill is terrified of this phone call, and is very upset just thinking of it. Group is adjourned, and Jill goes into the kitchen with the other women. They try to talk to her/help as she cries and says she can't handle telling her mom that she doesn't want to live with her anymore.
Josie and Rhonda meet, while Chloe play nearby. Rhonda says she can see that Josie has developed a great deal of patience from motherhood, and Josie says she has more patience with everyone now, not just Chloe. Josie tells Rhonda how tired she is, and how she never gets any sleep. She is very upset and trying not to cry in front of Chloe as she talks about how she hasn't had a full night's sleep since Chloe was born. Rhonda tells Josie she should let herself cry, otherwise Chloe will not have a good example of how to express her own emotions.
Allison calls her mom, Anne. She tells Anne how much she loves her and how hard she is working on herself so that she won't be depressed anymore. Anne says she understands and that nobody wants to be depresssed. Then they go on to talk about Anne's social security, etc. (ED: I didn't really hear Allison set a boundary with her mom.) After she gets off the phone, she tells TJ that she called her mom, and TJ unlocks Allison's handcuffs for her.
Rhonda and Jessica meet. Rhonda says she previously gave Jessica an assignment to take photos on the streets of LA in order to rediscover her creative side. Jessica used to be a photographer, but gave it up a couple of years ago. Jessica shows Rhonda the photos, and Rhonda loves them. Rhonda then shows Jessica a book, called 'Fearless Women', which is photo essay book, created by Mary Ann Halpin (a renowned photographer). Rhonda tells Jessica that she has set up a meeting for Jessica today with Mary Ann to show Mary Ann her photos and get some feedback.
Dr. Stan meets with Josie and Josie tells him how she works 7 days a week. She tells Stan that she and Chloe sleep in the same room, and that sometimes she lets Chloe sleep in the bed with her when she feels guilty for being hard on Chloe, or not spending enough time with her. Stan tells her that she has to take time for herself, and that doing so will make her a better mom. Josie says she has no one to babysit for Chloe--her mom refuses, and she doesn't trust anyone else to watch her. Stan says she has to be creative in finding time for herself. He suggests she join Parents Without Partners.
Lisa drops Jessica off for her meeting with Mary Ann Halpin. Mary Ann asks why she stopped doing photography, and Jessica said she had a 'macho' professor who took the joy out of doing it. She then shows Mary Ann her photos, and Mary Ann gives her a lot of positive feedback. She really loves them.
Dr. Stan and Jill meet to discuss her situation with her mom. She says she feels guilty that she doesn't want to live with her mom, but she really wants to be independent. Stan says she must care for herself enough to put herself first. Then they do a little role-playing, with Stan taking the part of Jill's mom. Jill tells her 'mom' she wants to be on her own, and 'mom' (Stan) argues with her, and accuses Jill of abandoning her. But Jill sticks to her guns, and says she has to move out for herself. Stan tells her now is the point when she has to assert her needs.
Jill goes to call her mom--Lisa is with her for support. Jill tells her mom about how their relationship got bad after they moved in together, and that there are no boundaries in place with the current living situation. She tells her mom that they are no longer going to live in the same house. Her mom says she saw this coming for a long time, and that she will just have to face it. She tells Jill she will adjust, and Jill tells her it will be good for both of them. Jill asks her mom to come to the SO house for a visit, but her mom says she has to work double shifts and can't come. After the call, Jill says she feels she has had a major accomplishment.
Lisa is talking with TJ and Allison and says she is anxious to meet with Rhonda because she never followed-up on the appointments she made with the jewelry store owners the other day. She says she has decided she doesn't want to be in the jewelry business or even in sales at all. She says she would rather be a producer, or something more people-oriented. She is worried, however, that she might get kicked out of the house for not following up with her assignment.
The women take Josie and Chloe out to dinner, and to surprise Josie, Rhonda has arranged for SO graduates, Lynelle and Hailey, to meet them at the restaurant. They all sit down to eat, but things soon turn sour. Josie accuses Hailey of telling (or motioning to) Chloe to slap Josie. Hailey says Josie is being too serious, and that Chloe didn't even see her. Lisa thinks Josie is going overboard. Josie is very angry, and she and Hailey go outside to talk. Hailey tells Josie that she is exaggerating and taking something out on her that's not about her. Josie starts crying and tells Hailey that she is the only one she trusted and now feels that Hailey has turned against her. She tells Hailey she is sorry and that she has no social life and doesn't know how to interact with adults anymore. She says it is hard for her with her 'extra luggage' (meaning Chloe), and Hailey tells her that partying, meeting guys, etc., are unimportant compared to Chloe. They hug and Hailey tells Josie they both speak on impulse... Josie apologizes again for blowing up at Hailey.
Preview: Josie is pushed to the limit. Lisa takes a huge step backwards and what happens next may determine her future in the house.

Jill's Birthday And Allison Practices Flirting
The show starts with the women cleaning the kitchen. TJ is stressed out about her communication problems with Allison and Jessica. Allison is still wearing her muumuu and kerchief. She is angry at TJ because she feels TJ was trying to 'teach her a lesson' yesterday and trying to take control.
Lisa's parents, Lisa and TJ are in the dining room talking. Lisa's mom says she most closely identifies with TJ, and feels they are the most alike. Lisa says that her relationship with her parents has changed a lot, and she feels lighter and not angry with them anymore. She says she can appreciate them as people now. Her parents leave...
Jill is having a birthday party in the evening and she is busy preparing for the party. Jessica says she is very excited about it.
Iyanla arrives and the women meet for group.
Iyanla and Allison meet. Iyanla asks her how she feels about wearing the muumuu, and Allison says she now looks how she feels on the inside. She says she is embarrassed that she feels that way about herself. Iyanla tells her to finish the following sentence: "The reason I tell myself I'm not perfect is..." and Allison says it's because "I'm bad." Allison says she feels deep down inside that she doesn't deserve to live because she is not worth it, and she is not worth it because nobody loves her, and that nobody loves her because she is fat and ugly.
Then they cut to Jill going to Jenny Craig for her one month weigh-in. Jill has lost 20.2 lbs in one month and feels very good about it.
Back to Iyanla and Allison... Iyanla tells Allison to tell that part of herself which feels so bad what she wants 'her' to know. Allison says she is tired of 'her' feeling that way. She says she wants to live big, proud and with grace. Iyanla asks her what is blocking her from living that way, and Allison says it's fear--fear of everything--of failing, succeeding, of being alone, etc. Iyanla tells Allison there is someone she wants her to meet. His name is David Wygant aka 'Hitch' and he is a 'dating doctor'. Iyanla brings David in and David asks Allison what she looks for in a man. Allison says she wants someone who is taller, muscular, funny, has money or is at least stable, and someone who makes her feel secure and terrific about herself. She says she's never had that before because she always thinks men find her fat and ugly. David and Allison then go to Allison's bedroom and David helps her pick out clothes for an outing they are taking to a dog park. Allison gets ready, while David mingles with Jessica and Lisa. Allison comes out and she and David (along with a beautiful black lab named Daphne) leave for the dog park.
Jill continues to get the house ready for the party and Allison and David arrive at the dog park, and David tells Allison that dog parks are great places to meet people and to widen her social circle. Jill's best friend, Blu, arrives at the house for Jill's party. Jill is very touches that Blue flew all the way out to be there for her birthday.
Allison and David go to a clothing shop called 'Abundance', where David is going to help Allison pick out clothes that make her feel sexy. Allison is reluctant to try on the 'skimpy' clothes, but does so anyway. She looks very pretty in them, by the way.
Back at the house, Jill is making food/drinks for the party. More guests start to arrive. Her cousin Brian shows up, and also her cousins Nora and Nellie and another cousin, Brent. Allison and David return to the house and Allison goes to change into the clothes she bought at Abundance, while David waits for her. Allison comes out in a very pretty outfit, and her and David leave to go 'practice flirting'.
Meanwhile, Jill is having a very nice birthday party and she has a nice gathering of people there for her. They seem to all be enjoying themselves and Jill looks happy.
Allison and David arrive at a restaurant/bar and David talks to her about flirting. He says that part of flirting is 'creating a story,' and that it doesn't really matter what you say, just that you have fun and talk to people. Then David picks out some men sitting near the bar for Allison to approach and try out flirting. Allison looks nervous, but goes for it. She approaches the two men (twins), and tells them a story about how she and David are having an argument over who will win the super bowl this year. The guys seem really nice, and they have a light conversation with Allison. When Allison returns to her table with David, David tells her she did an unbelievably great job, and that she rocks!
Back at the house, Jill makes a wish and blows out the candles on the birthday cake. Allison and David arrive back at the house, and David tells the housemates what a great job Allison did with the flirting. David then leaves, and so do Jill's birthday party guests.
Jill and TJ go outside to talk, and Jill tells TJ that Allison told her that TJ wasn't talking to anybody. TJ gets angry about this, and just then Allison walks outside. She asks Allison why she would say such a thing. TJ says she is just exhausted from the big day they had, and is not refusing to talk with people. She tells Allison that she thinks her comment was rude and that it hurt her feelings. Allison says it was just a comment, and not a big deal. TJ tells her that she wants to believe Allison, but that she really feels it was more than just an innocent comment.
Preview: Jill falls apart. Josie and Chloe return to the house, and Josie reveals what life has been like back home. A celebration turns nasty.

TJ Creates An Exercise and Allison Has A Tough Day
The show starts with Lisa helping her mom style her hair. Then Rhonda arrives and tells the women that Mr. Ozzy, the dog, will be leaving the SO house after group today. Lisa, her parents and Rhonda go outside to talk. Lisa says that after she graduated college, she locked herself in her room for a year, and her parents just ignored her distress. She says that all the little things her parents do that annoy her bring up the past. Lisa's mom says that she gave Lisa money her grandmother (Lisa's mom's mom) left her that Lisa used to travel around the world, and that she also bought her a condo. Rhonda asks Lisa's dad if Lisa is a daddy's girl, and he says she is. Rhonda asks Lisa's mom how she feels about Lisa not being ambitious and not making her own money, etc. Lisa's mom says she is angry and upset about it. She says Lisa is like a 'dog' that has to be taken care of, or like a welfare recipient... Her father says he secretly enjoys it that Lisa is a daddy's girl who can't take care of herself. Lisa says that the way her dad is always offering to pay her bills and do everything for her undermines her confidence and makes her feel that she can do nothing for herself. Her parents both agree that want Lisa to gain confidence and her mom says it is wonderful that Lisa is at the SO house and that it's the best thing that has ever happened for Lisa.
The women meet for group. Rhonda arrives with a nest which contains 6 eggs. She tells the women that the eggs represent dreams that are stuck inside the shells. She says we get comfortable living in our shells and can't achieve our dreams until we become uncomfortable inside our shelled cocoons and decide to 'peck ourselves' free. Allison says she wants to leave the egg, and Rhonda tells her she must be willing to stop being a mediator. Jessica says she feels like she has broken free of her shell--when she left her job, her boyfriend, and decided to the house and stop hiding behind her masks. Rhonda then gives her an egg from the basket, and says there are five others. The other women each get an egg. Rhonda says we break free of the shell around us when something inside pushes us to start speaking the truth. She asks Allison if she is sick of not telling the truth--of hiding behind her masks. Allison says she is. Rhonda asks them all if they are totally willing to live in the unknown and to break open their shells, and they all says they are. Rhonda tells them each to decorate their egg for a ceremony they will hold that evening in which they will break their eggs and symbolize breaking free in order to pursue their dreams. Rhonda then calls Jessica up to the 'love seat' and tells her that she has gotten 2 steps: Grieve the loss of her mother, and move beyond 9/11. Then Rhonda scoops up Mr. Ozzy and declares him a graduate of Starting Over. Goodbye Mr. Ozzy!! Group is adjourned.
Allison calls Iyanla and leaves a message for her. She is crying and says she is having a difficult time today, but doesn't know exactly why. She says there is something she should see, but doesn’t, and she feels embarrassed about it.
Lisa and her parents are lying in bed and Lisa tells them they are going to go to the restaurant where she worked for a day. Meanwhile Allison is agitated because the kitchen is very messy and wants to clean it up.
Iyanla arrives and meets with Allison. Allison tells her that she had a tough group today, and that she doesn't know what it's going to take for her to see in herself what others see in her. Iyanla tells her that you can't move until you're ready, and that she is exactly where she needs to be. She speculates that Allison may not be ready right now to start over, and that maybe now is not the right time. Allison cries and says she is very frustrated. Iyanla decided to give Allison an assignment to help her get unstuck. She tellsher shewill be wearing a mumu, kerchief and no make-up for a week. She says they have to 'go there' and that this will help Allison to honor herself.
Next Jill and Iyanla meet and Jill shows Iyanla her plan of action related to her health issues. She has decided to have the surgery in
TJ and Jill talk about the messy kitchen, and TJ says she is trying to give Allison what she needs by not cleaning the kitchen. TJ says Allison's game is to play 'poor, pitiful me'. TJ says she wants to help Allison by not cleaning the kitchen and getting Allison agitated. TJ feels this will bring Allison's issues to the surface and help her deal with them.
Iyanla and
Jill calls her mom, Lynda and asks her to come to the SO house before the surgery. Her mom says she doesn't have the money or the time. Jill is shocked and hurt that her mom isn't going to be there for her--she says she just assumed she would be. Jill feels that her mom not being there for her means she really is leaving the nest.
Lisa and her parents go to the restaurant, The Stand, and Lisa buys them lunch. Her dad offers Lisa money, but Lisa reminds him that he is not to do that anymore. Her mom says things are so different because they are so used to paying everything for Lisa.
Allison asks TJ when the kitchen is going to get cleaned, and TJ says it may not get cleaned at all. Allison tells her she will not be going into the kitchen again until i is cleaned. Allison feels that TJ is playing a sick game with her and is being too controlling. She says she gets TJ's point, but that TJ is not her life coach.
Iyanla and
Lisa plays basketball with her mom, Valorie. Her mom has a
Iyanla gives Allison her mumu, kerchief and slippers and tells her to get dressed in them and meet her in the study. Allison does so, and then they sit down to talk. Allison says that TJ is trying to be her life coach by not cleaning the kitchen, and that she is angry about it. Iyanla asks her what is the worst thing that could happen if the kitchen doesn't get clean, and Allison says she could get West Nile Virus. LOL. Iyanla tells her that the guests (Lisa's parents) are not her guests and she is not responsible for cleaning the kitchen for them--Allison has been upset because they have guests and the kitchen is so filthy. Iyanla tells Allison to go into the kitchen and tell the women to clean the kitchen--to do the opposite of what she would normally do. So Allison goes in and tells them pretty forcefully that she wants the kitchen cleaned. TJ is happy that Allison has done this, and she starts trying to 'high-five' Jessica--she thinks that her exercise in not cleaning the kitchen has helped Allison. Jessica, however, seems angry about it and asks TJ why she is trying to 'high-five' her. Jessica says she is confused as to why TJ is trying to create exercises for Allison. TJ says that Allison is her accountability partner, and that's why she did it. She says she wants Allison to grow and change.
Allison and Iyanla go back in the study to talk. Meanwhile TJ and Jessica are arguing in the kitchen over TJ setting up the kitchen exercise for Allison. TJ says she doesn't want to see Allison go through pain anymore, and that she wants her to leave and will do whatever it takes to help her through her issues. Back in the study, Iyanla tells Allison that she should speak her mind about how she feels regarding what TJ is doing. So Allison goes back in and tells TJ she doesn't like what TJ has been doing and TJ says she understands. Then Allison leaves the kitchen. TJ now feels that there is a division in the house over what she did.
All the women except TJ meet at the dining room table with their decorated eggs. Allison reads a letter Rhonda has left for them. In the letter, Rhonda tells them to each break their eggs one by one to symbolize the release of their dreams.
TJ is on the phone with Rhonda and is crying. She asks Rhonda if it's OK if she doesn't crack her egg because she is in a bad place right now. She says she feels like the 'bad guy' and that the other women have turned against her.
The other women continue the egg-breaking ceremony. They each throw their egg into a bowl and announce their intentions. Allison didn't decorate her egg because she doesn't want to hide behind masks/decorations anymore. Jessica says her egg is decorated like a star because she wants to dream big. Jill says her history is important to her, and her dream is to be a woman of worth before breaking her egg.
Jessica talks with Jill and says she doesn't like it that TJ created an exercise for Allison. Jill agrees. Meanwhile, TJ is still on the phone with Rhonda. Rhonda tells her that she is seeing things in black and white again, and that she is not the bad guy, she is just trying too hard. Rhonda says TJ has good intentions, but that those intentions got lost because TJ made herself the center of attention in creating the kitchen exercise.
Jessica and
TJ feels that the house has divided and formed a clique against her. She says she doesn't know what to do about it.
Preview: Tension in the house explodes. Jill is taken off guard (by Iyanla). Allison tries to find a love match.

Lisa's Parents Arrive and Jill's Health Problems
The show starts with the women gathered in the kitchen talking. TJ tells the women that she is uncomfortable most of the time and says it's due to her lack of self-worth. Just then a fire starts in the toaster oven.
Jill calls Dr. Konialian about the surgery to remove her fibroid. He tells her that after the surgery she won't be able to do much for about 2 weeks, after a month she should be able to return to 'normal' function, and it will take 2 months to resume exercising, etc. Jill does not want to go back to
Dr. Stan arrives and meets with Lisa. Lisa tells him about her anxiety regarding her parents' visit. She says her mom gave her no structure growing up. She says she was a good kid and always did well in school, but after she grew up and started disagreeing with her parents, the problems started. Stan says her parents raised her to be interdependent and that they enabled her to not grow into an independent woman. He asks her how she feels and she says she is angry and sad about it.
Iyanla calls Jill and tells her she has an assignment for her. She tells her she has taped instructions for Jill to follow on Jill's bedroom door. Iyanla wants Jill to take TJ along with her while she does this assignment because TJ has not been getting along with her housemates. Jill's assignment will be to specifically follow directions Iyanla has written for her--the assignment is to teach her how to follow a set of instructions because Iyanla says Jill has big problems in this area.
Lisa and Stan continue their talk. Lisa says her parents blame her for what they didn't do to help her grow up. She says her dad is inconsistent--one day he tells her she has nothing to worry about and he will take care of her, and the next day he tells her she is lazy and should go get a job. Stan tells her she should have no more expectations from her parents. He also tells her he has arranged for Lisa to go to various jewelry stores today to try to sell the rest of the jewelry she made. He wants her to use her new-found skills to complete this assignment. Lisa is afraid of failing.
Jill and TJ are following the directions Iyanla left. They are driving to a park, per Iyanla's instructions.
Iyanla arrives as
Jill and TJ continue to the park. They are supposed to park the van in the 7th space in the parking lot according to instructions, but there's a car already in that place. They park next to the space, get out of the car, and find a note with Jill's name on it that Iyanla has left taped to a trash can. The instructions say that Jill is to go to a tree where she will find more instructions. Those instructions tell her to go to the second trash can she sees, but she stops at the first because there are further instructions taped onto that one. They tell her to clean up the trash that is laying around that trash can. Just then Iyanla arrives and asks Jill why she is at that trash can--she went to the first one, instead of the second, and therefore didn't specifically follow directions.
Lisa goes to her first jewelry store, called Compliments, and meets with the owner, Sam Mona. He asks her for an order of 2-3 of each of her pieces and says he hopes she will be able to produce what he has asked of her.
Iyanla and Jill sit and talk at a park bench. Iyanla tells her that it is critical to her health that she follow a specific path regarding her health issues. She says not following a narrow, certain path is what has led Jill to have these serious health problems because she could have taken care of these issues before they were so serious.
Attorney Ken Townsend arrives at the house to speak with
Jill and Iyanla are still at the park and they are talking about what went wrong--how Jill didn't specifically follow the directions Iyanla left for her. Iyanla says Jill was cutting corners again, and wants her to see that she also does this in other areas of her life--like with not taking care of her health and not getting health insurance. Jill then tells Iyanla that she wants to have the surgery in
Lisa goes to her second jewelry store, and I believe she gets an order there too. The owner, Sharona (?) Fakhadin, likes Lisa's dragon fly necklaces.
Lisa and Dr. Stan meet and again to discuss her parents' impending arrival. Lisa fears she will be triggered by her parents. Stan encourages her to discharge any feelings she has to her parents without expectations about their reactions.
Valorie and Bill, Lisa's parents, arrive while Stan and Lisa are still talking. Jessica and
Jill and Dr. Stan meet and talk a little more about her surgery. Stan says that people sometimes ignore health problems and have a fantasy that the problems will go away, but they only get worse. He tells her she must plow right into her fears because her health has to be her #1 priority.
Lisa's parents take a look at the guest room, where they will be sleeping, while Lisa talks to TJ and
Jill calls her cousin, Brian, who lives in
Lisa's mom shows Lisa some clothes she brought for her--there's a pair of unusual shorts and a g-string. She also tells Lisa she brought her some 'Tampax,' at which point Lisa becomes embarrassed and tells her mom to stop talking about things like that. And that's pretty much how today's show ends.
Preview for next week: Allison faces a harsh reality. Familiar faces return to the house--it is Josie and Chloe, and Hailey. Jill can't run from her fears anymore. And Lisa does the unthinkable--it looks like she doesn't complete an assignment again.

Board Of Review Continued and Allison Meets Tia
The show begins with a continuation of the board of review.
The next morning,
The ladies and Mr. Ozzy (the dog) go in for group and Iyanla arrives. Iyanla starts discussing their core beliefs. She asks
The other ladies are outside at the tennis court practicing throwing rings onto the water bottles as Mr. Ozzy watches on.
Lisa is going over her business plan before the expert arrives and feels very anxious. TJ wanders over and starts telling Lisa to 'look in her eyes', but Lisa doesn't do it. She is telling lisa not to freak out, etc, but it's obvious Lisa sees this as an intrusion while she is trying to do last minute preparation before the expert gets there. After TJ leaves,
Iyanla and Allison meet. Allison says she feels stuck and confused. She feels fat and ugly and is stuck in those beliefs. Iyanla tells her that there is nothing Allison needs to 'fix,' even though she knows Allison doesn't believe that. She asks Allison if she has ever grieved the loss of her breasts, and Allison says she hasn't. They talk about silent tears, and Iyanla says there are dangerous. Then Iyanla tells her that she may not be able to help her completely because she doesn't know exactly what Allison is experiencing, but that she knows someone who can help her. She is sending her to meet Tia, a woman of similar age and background as Allison.
TJ and Rhonda meet and Rhonda talks about how difficult it is for TJ to make friends outside of her husband. She says TJ sees things in black and white, and she is going to send her on an assignment that will help her to see the gray. She tells TJ that she is going to go out onto the streets and asks the public various questions--their opinons of things to help her see that people have varying opinions, and it's not all right/wrong, black/white.
Edward Jamison, the business plan expert, arrives for his meeting with Lisa. He says he is a financial attorney and helps people with credit issues, etc., related to business ventures. Lisa tells him her plan--to buy wholesale jewelry and then host parties at her home and sell them retail.
TJ goes out onto the street and asks people various questions--like what would they do if they went to dinner with their in-laws and cow tongue was served--would they eat it? Some say they would and some wouldn't. She goes on asking them various questions like this one.
Allison meets with Tia Bruno, who is also a cancer survivor. She tells Allison her story about how she got breast cancer at 30. Allison notices Tia's scars on her chest, which looks so similar to her own. They talk about men, and whether Allison thinks she is damaged goods. Allison says she doesn't... Then Tia asks her if she wants to meet her boyfriend, and Allison is excited to do so.
Lisa and Edward continue their meeting. Edward tells her that her plan sounds great and is very enthusiastic about her chances for success. After he leaves, Lisa comments on Edward's attractiveness. He is very attractive, by the way. LOL
Tia brings over her boyfriend, Indy. He tells Allison that Tia's scars did not bother him in the least and that he thought she was gorgeous before the cancer, during it and after. Allison feels encouraged by their relationship. Tia asks Allison if she would like to go shopping, and the two women leave together after saying goodbye to Indy.
Rhonda meets TJ on the street, where she has been asking her questions of the public. Rhonda asks her what this exercise was about, and TJ says it was to show her that people have different values, morals, and beliefs, and that that's OK. Rhonda tells her that TJ should no longer decide what other people 'should' think, and to stop always judging others' opinions. TJ says it is a very ingrained habit.
Lisa calls her parents and tells them what she is learning about core beliefs. They both seem at least somewhat interested and open. Lisa's mom comments that Lisa seems like a different person, and she sounds happy that Lisa is learning such new ways of thinking.
Allison and Tia go to a lingerie shop, Sara's Lingerie. Allison tries on some of the lingerie, and says that if she could dress that way, it would better her self-image. She says she feels sexy trying on these clothes, but she is not ready to buy anything yet. She and Tia leave and say goodbye to each other.
Back at the house, Allison meets with Iyanla. Allison says she had a very good time, and that Tia was just wonderful. She says the best thing she got out of it was when Tia told her that the scars don't matter. Then she and Iyanla go out to the tennis court where the other women are practicing throwing the rings on the water bottles.
They are throwing the rings at the bottles, and Iyanla takes some of the rings, and asks the women why they are throwing the rings--then she walks over to the bottles and just drops a ring over the top of each one. She tells them that all she said was to get the rings around the bottles, and they just assumed they had to throw them onto the bottles. She said they did this based on a belief, and hopes the exercise makes them more aware of self-limiting beliefs.
Rhonda and Lisa meet and talk about her parents arriving and the meeting she had with Edward. She said Edward helped her think in a whole new way and that she is very encouraged by what he had to say. Rhonda tells her she wants to be the first investor in Lisa's business venture, and gives her $100 for the future business. Lisa looks very happy, but is nervous about her parents coming tomorrow.
Preview: Lisa unleashes her fury.

Christina's Big Day
The show opens with Lisa talking about finishing up her business plan. She seems to have been working very hard on it for the last few days.
Dr. David Crausman arrives at the house for a meeting with
Jill calls her doctor, Dr. Kanialian. He tells her she should have surgery within a month because the fibroid is growing quickly and it would be a risk to her health to wait any longer. Jill is upset by this news.
Back to
The women meet for group and Rhonda arrives. Rhonda wants to discuss follow-through, and she asks Jill what getting to the finish line means for her. Jill says that being consistent is what will get her there, and that has always been what's lacking in her life.
Rhonda and Lisa meet and discuss her business plan. She has met her deadline, and feels proud of that. Rhonda is happy Lisa feels good about herself, but wonders whether Lisa has what it takes to follow-through and actually create a business. She tells Lisa that she is going to be meeting with a woman who owns a jewelry store, and show her the business plan.
Iyanla and
Jill calls her mom, Lynda and is upset. She is crying and telling her what the doctor said. Her mom tells her that if she needs to get the surgery, she should come home, but Jill doesn't want to leave the SO house. Iyanla asks Jill to go outside with her.
Jill and Iyanla meet and Jll is crying and terribly upset about the prospect of leaving the house and getting surgery. She tells Iyanla she doesn't want to go home to her mom, and doesn't feel that she has the tools yet to deal with things at home.
Lisa drives to her appointment with Sarah Cron, the woman who owns a jewelry store called Ten Women. Lisa arrives late, and is worried about that making a bad impression. Sarah says Lisa seems very nervous and when she asks Lisa about the price point of her jewelry, Lisa doesn't know. Sarah tells her she should have an immediate answer to that. Lisa also doesn't know exactly what the jewelry she created is made of, and Sarah doesn't look too happy about Lisa's lack of preparedness for their meeting.
Jill and Iyanla stand on the balcony outside and Iyanla tells her to ask the universe for what she needs. They both put their hands out, palms up, and Jill asks the universe for courage. Iyanla says to ask what she wants from her mom, and Jill says she is choosing not to deal with her mom's problems, but her own. She tells the universe, "I choose to take care of me" and "All my needs are to be met now". Then they both thank the universe, and Iyanla says, "it is done!" Iyanla thinks Jill gets it--that the universe will giver her what she needs when she asks.
They all gather for the BoR. Rhonda and Iyanla are there, and the women look anxious, especially Lisa, who is afraid she might be kicked out. Rhonda goes over the grading system, and then talks about how the house has been on probation. They do a flashback to when Lisa's housemates were honest with her when she didn't complete her jewelry-making assignment, and then Rhonda says that this shows there has been improvement. She gives the house a 'B', and says it is no longer on probation. Then Rhonda calls Jessica to the podium. Rhonda asks her what she has done well, and she says she has not been denying her emotions and has been expressing them. She says she realizes that problem predated her mother's death. Rhonda asks what she needs to work on and she says she needs to remember not to put up barriers. Rhonda brings up Jessica's father, and Jessica says she wants love and support from him, but that she pushed him away by blaming him and not giving him a chance to love and support her. Rhonda asks the women whether they think Jessica should stay or go and then all say she should definitely stay. Iyanla tells Jessica that she should give herself permission to be happy without her mother, and that it would give her mother joy if she did so. Then Rhonda gives Jessica her grade--she gets an 'A'. All the women clap for her and she sits down.

Allison's Boyfriend and Christina Faces Herself
The show starts with a man arriving at the door with a breakfast basket. TJ answers the door and he asks for Allison, who is still asleep. TJ wakes up Allison and she hurriedly gets ready and goes to meet her visitor. His name is James and Iyanla has sent him over as a 'boyfriend for the day' for Allison to practice being open with a man. James gives Allison a flower, and then Allison excuses herself to do her make-up, etc., before they have their breakfast.
Allison begins her lunch with James. They toast to a good day and he tells her that there are plenty of goody guys in the world. He tells her that his intention for the day is to have un, develop trust with Allison, and give her an idea of what unconditional love looks like.
Dr. Stan meets with
Allison is getting ready for the next part of her date with James, and TJ is with her. TJ brings up that she feels like a failure as Allison's accountability partner and asks Allison what she is struggling with--Allison says it's her drinking, but that she doesn't want to talk about it right now. TJ realizes that this wasn't the best time to bring this subject up (because of Allison's date with James), and she asks Allison if she has ruined her special day with James. Allison looks a little angry, but she just answers TJ with, "I don't know".
Rhonda and Jessica meet. There is a camera and TV monitor set up in the room, and Rhonda tells Jessica she has a media consultant coming who will help her practice giving media interviews about 9/11, which is something Jessica is afraid of doing. That evening, Rhonda tells her that Jessica is going to hold a mock press conference with her housemates. Mark Bernheimer arrives to help Jessica practice for the mock press conference she is to hold later. He has worked for CNN in the past, and is now a media consultant who helps people become more comfortable in front of the camera. They practice an interview.
Jessica and Mark Bernheimer continue practicing. He asks her what goes through her mind on the anniversary of 9/11, and she says she feels the anxiety all over again. He asks her whether she feels the government took the right approach in answering to the events of 9/11, and although Jessica is afraid to answer that question, she says she doesn't think the government responded correctly. He asks what she would say to President Bush if she could speak with him. She says she would tell him to listen to the victims' families and how they were effected by the tragedy. Mark then gives her some advice about interviews. He tells her to speak in complete sentences and to strike a balance between being too overy emotional in her responses and being too detached. She thanks him for his help and he leaves.
Iyanla arrives for group. She notices that Allison looks upset and asks what's wrong. She says that her housemates tried to address her cleaning too much and drinking issues, but that she doesn't want to discuss that today because she wants to enjoy her time with James, her 'boyfriend' for the day. Iyanla says that Allison should share with James her feelings, and that he will stand by her and help her. Iyanla says not to make it 'pretty' for James, but to be real with him. She tells Allison to surrender, and not be afraid she won't do everything perfect. Then Iyanla tells the women that today is an opportunity to be accountable and responsible, and she is going to bring that opportunity in--she goes out of the room and comes back with a dog! Iyanla tells them his name is Mr. Ozzy. The women are very excited about the dog. Iyanla tells them they have to go buy flea medicine for him, and also says she doesn't know how long Mr. Ozzy will be visiting. Group is adjourned.
Allison introduces Mr. Ozzy to James, who has been waiting for her while she was in group. She tells James that she is having a hard day, and James is very supportive. He tells her she makes him feel comfortable. He says Allison just needs the mirror wiped clean so that she can see how beautiful she is. He then gives her a shoulder massage. Allison feels like she has caught a glimpse of unconditional love.
Christina continues to work on her assignment, and James leaves but is going to come back later for dinner. The women realize Mr. Ozzy is missing and wander all around the house and outside trying to find him. They finally find him, and Jessica says it's terrible that they lost him only an hour after he came to the house. TJ and Jessica go to the pet store to get the flea medicine for Mr. Ozzy and they also buy him a cute jean jacket outfit.
Iyanla and Allison meet. Iyanla asks Allison if she's ever truly been intimate with a man (not sexuall intimate, but emotionally intimate). Allison says she hasn't. Iyanla tells her that she will have to tell James about her hysterectomy/reconstructive surgery--if she can't tell him, Iyanla asks, how will she be able to tell a 'real' boyfriend? Iyanla tells Allison to tell the truth to James.
Dr. Stan meets with Christina. Christina has finished her assignment and written various traits on each of the boards representing her different personalities. Kasey, the chip hustler personality, was sneaky, a liar, 2-faces, slutty, manipulative, and cunning. Her positive traits were that she was creative, bold and courageous. Karly, the stripper, was insensitive, ruthless and boastful. She was lso confident and motivated. Genesis the escort was also cunning, sneaky, a liar, a thief and a con. Stan asks where her conscience was when she was behaving in all of these terrible ways, and Christina says it was there, she just didn't listen to it. Stan says he is just blown away. He says he sees Christina as this sweet innocent girl, and he wonders whether he himself is being hustled by her. He asks her why she is giving up the life she had before, and she says she hated herself. Stan says that Christina experienced strong feelings of being powerful over men in her former life, and asks if she is afraid to admit to those feelings. She says she is. He gives her permission and encourages her to express the positive feelings she got out of the way she acted. He tells her she must own all of her feelings if she is going to change. He gives her a new board and tells her to take the positive traits from each of her other personalities that she wants to incorporate into her own personality now.
Jessica's mock press conference is about to begin. Jill is the MC, and the rest of the women are reporters. TJ is supposed to play the aggressive reporter. Jessica enters and they begin peppering her with questions. She does a good job answering them, even the tough ones from TJ.
Allison and James meet for dinner and Allison tells him about her hysterectomy and reconstruction surgery. He tells her he is grateful that she shared all of that with him.
Jessica says she feels empowered by the mock press conference because she was able to express her views.
Later, Christina tells the women that they are photos of her on the internet of when she was a stripper. She goes on the internet to see if they're still there, and they are! She shows TJ and Jessica, but the camera blurs them out!!

Allison Chooses Love
Allison wakes up to find the house turned upside down. There is food on the floor, chairs overturned, and books, etc., strewn everywhere. It looks like there has been an earthquake, but it is only a simulated one to see how the women will react to a scenario in which everything is all 'messed up'. Allison thinks it has something to do with her in particular because she tends to clean up other people's messes... So of course she starts cleaning it up all by herself. TJ wakes up, and immediately wakes up the other housemates to help her and Allison clean up. They all wake up and begin straightening up the house.
Allison then calls her mom, Anne. Anne tells Allison that her Aunt Gail told her that Allison doesn't have any self-esteem. That revelation seemed to make Anne angry, and she tells Allison that she had self-esteem as a child (I guess implying Allison 'lost' her self-esteem as an adult). Then she tells Allison that nobody would even know if she died in that house--they wouldn't find her body for five days. Allison says she would know... Then Anne tells Allison that she better 'watch out' because she might not have any friends when she gets home because people are tired of her 'pushing the panic button'. She accuses Allison of 'going
Rhonda arrives and the ladies gather for group. They talk about the mess the ladies discovered that morning, and Rhonda asks how they reacted to it. Allison say she was going to clean it up all by herself and thought the exercise had something to do with her. Rhonda says it was an exercise for all of them. TJ says her reaction was that she wasn't going to clean it up all by herself, and Jill says she didn't want to clean it up at all. Allison brings up the terrible conversations she had with her mom. She says the guilt she feels is awful. Rhonda tells her she has to decide to let go of the guilt. Allison is crying and Jessica hugs her. Then the other women come over and offer their support and love. Allison is openly receiving their love, which is not normal for her, and being very vulnerable. Rhonda tells her she can let love win or let guilt win--it's her choice. Allison says she chooses love. Rhonda tells Allison she is not allowed to thank her roommates for the love they're giving her. She says love cannot be 'paid back' because it is given freely. Then Rhonda calls TJ up to the 'love seat' beside her and reveals that TJ has gotten her first step: Face The Loneliness. TJ is very proud and moved that she is the first person in the house to get a step--she says it is an amazing moment for her. Jessica says that TJ went from being the most uncomfortable person for Jessica to be around, to being the most trust, comfortable person with whom Jessica can share/talk. Group is adjourned.
Rhonda and TJ meet and Rhonda gives her an assignment. She is to call the woman she met at 24 Hour Fitness, Buffy, and ask her over for lunch. She must have lunch with her alone without the other housemates and make a deeper connection with Buffy. TJ has some anxiety about it, and her initial reaction is to think that Buffy wouldn't want to spend time with her.
Lisa goes with Jill to Jenny Craig for a weigh-in. Jill has lost 8lbs this week, which brings her total weight loss to 19lbs!
Iyanla and Allison meet. Allison tells her that she is petrified to leave the house. She thinks her family/friends will not be open to the 'new' Allison without the fake facade. Allison tells her that she has to make a crucial next step and that is to clean up the relationship with her mom. She says it is vital to Allison's healing. Allison cries and Iyanla asks her what she is upset about. She says she is afraid of being completely alone (of losing her mom) if she confronts that relationship.
TJ gets up the nerve to call Buffy and invites her to lunch. Buffy seems very nice and agrees to come over at 2PM. TJ is super excited about it!
Iyanla and Allison continue to talk. Iyanla puts a blindfold on Allison and makes her disoriented by walking her around in circles. Then she leaves Allison standing there blindfolded and stands back--she tells Allison to find her way. Allison is crying, and Iyanla tells her to just 'get still'. She tells Allison that her problem is too big to run away from. She asks Allison what she wants, and Allison says she wants joy, success, a husband, a life of her own. Iyanla asks her what matters, and Allison says SHE matters, her life matters. Iyanla asks her how Allison is going to find what she wants if she is wandering around in the dark. Allison says she doesn't know. Iyanla leads the still blindfolded Allison over to a gravestone that I think has Allison's birthdate and RIP written on it. She takes off the blindfold and shows her what might happen if she doesn't make this crucial next step in dealing with her mom.
Lisa is working on her business plan today and realizes that if she applies herself she can do it. Jill calls her mom and they talk about the fibroid and she tells her mom she has to have it removed.
Allison puts her head on Iyanla's lap and continues to release her sadness over her relationship with her mom. Iyanla asks her what she wants to share with her mom, and Allison says she has no idea. Iyanla tells her she must have a conversation with her mom, and until she cleans up this relationship her healing will be in limbo. Allison asks Iyanla if she will help her, and she tells her that she absolutely will.
TJ gets ready for Buffy's visit and makes a nice lunch for them. Buffy arrives and TJ introduces her to her housemates. TJ is still worried about connecting with Buffy and has a tremendous amount of anxiety about it.
Iyanla and Jill meet and talk about the fibroid and the surgery. Iyanla tells Jill to go get her self-sabotage bag from upstairs.
TJ and Buffy sit outside and eat lunch together. Things are going very well, and TJ says she really enjoys Buffy's company. TJ feels she has made a new friend.
Jill comes back with the self-sabotage bag, which is still filled with clothes. Iyanla can't believe Jill waited three years to do anything about her fibroid. She asks her if she's been in pain because of it, and Jill says she has. Iyanla tells her pain is not a normal part of life, and it means something is out of line. She tells her when you don't take care of little things, they become big things. Iyanla picks up Jill's self-sabotage bag, and then walks around the house picking up a basket, dragging around a chair, etc. She is demonstrating to Jill that Jill is dragging around a bunch of crap all the time. She tells her to STOP--to just stop doing it, and she throws everything down. She implores Jill to do what brings her joy instead. She tells Jill that she has so much to give and to stop dishonoring herself and life by walking around in pain for three years and not doing anything about it. Jill is very moved by Iyanla's speech and is crying, realizing what she has been doing to herself. Iyanla tells her to take 8 pieces of clothing off of her mannequin, Mabel, but to add 7 pieces of clothing from the self-sabotage bag. She tells Jill that her life is important, and that right now it may be more important to Iyanla than it is to Jill herself.
Jill goes and works on her mannequin. She realizes that the fibroid tumor represents what she has been ignoring in her life. She has been weighing herself down with all this baggage, and the fibroid represents that.
Iyanla finds Allison, who is lying in bed. Iyanla says that Allison is preparing for her next big step, and that she has been doing a lot of healing, which is why she is crying so much. She tells Allison to close her eyes, and she reads a poem she wrote, called "Yesterday, I Cried". It's a beautiful poem--at the end it talks about crying with an 'agenda' to heal. She tells Allison to cry with an agenda. She tells her that she has to address the relationship she has with her mom. Allison is crying and says she feels sorry for her mom...

Jessica's Joyous Day and Jill's Health
The show starts with Jill going to the doctor. TJ has gone with her for emotional support. Jill is upset and says she is tired of being in pain all the time. Her doctor, Dr. Konialian, does an examination and then says he's going to send her to the hospital for at CAT scan.
Back at the house, Lisa is afraid to see Rhonda because she disappointed her yesterday, and feels that Rhonda is angry with her. Jessica gets an email from her dad that gives her mixed emotions. He tells her in the email how much he loves her, but also admits he is uncomfortable talking on the phone with her while she is in the house. Jessica feels that she may not be a priority for her dad.
Jill and TJ arrive at the hospital for the CAT scan. Jill has to drink some sort of gross liquid before the test, and TJ helps her by making light of the situation. Jill says she's glad she brought TJ because the makes things more light-hearted. They do Jill's scan, and they she and TJ head home to await the results.
All the women gather for group with Rhonda. Rhonda looks at Lisa and says, "I'll deal with you later," in a sort of angry manner. Lisa seems very uncomfortable. Then Rhonda starts the group and says she wants to discuss how people make things up/make up stories rather than deal with facts. She asks Jill what she has made up. Jill says she rationalizes not taking care of herself because she has no insurance. She didn't want to go to the doctor and is afraid she will have to get a hysterectomy. Allison admits she feels Jill is 'stealing her thunder' because Allison is the 'sick one'. She realizes that she wants to stay sick because that way she can concern herself with that and doesn't have to work on her emotional issues.
Rhonda and Jessica meet. Rhonda tells Jessica that our bodies hold memories, so even though she is intellectually moving on, her body keeps trying to bring up the memories from the past. Jessica talks about the email she got from her dad and says it is triggering feelings from her past. She says she is always the one who has to call her dad, and Rhonda says that doesn't matter. She should call him, and not calling him is some kind of test. Rhonda wants Jessica to connect with her family through joy, and not through pain, which is the only way she has connected to them since she lost her family. Rhonda gives Jessica an assignment. She has to go out today and hug 35 people. Jessica is scared about hugging random strangers and feels very uncomfortable about the assignment.
Rhonda and Lisa meet. Rhonda asks Lisa why she thinks Rhonda gave her the jewelry assignment. Lisa doesn't know. Rhonda tells her it is because Lisa says she is good at customer service, at selling, and is also creative. Rhonda thought Lisa would ace this assignment. Lisa says she didn't because she believed she wasn't capable. She feels ashamed and wants to fix what she started (with the jewelry exercise). Rhonda wants her to finish making the necklaces and then go out to the street corner and sell them. She wants Lisa to call her at the end of the day and tell her how things went.
Jessica goes to an outside cafe-type of area and starts looking around for people to hug. She approaches a man and asks if she can 'have a hug' and the man says no. She then approaches some women and asks the same question. They also say no. Then Jessica changes her tactic, and starts asking people if she can give them a hug, and people start responding positively. She gets a lot of hugs throughout the day. She then returns home and tells her housemates she got 67 hugs! She said that once people heard her story they started coming out of the shops in the area and volunteering to hug her.
Dr. Konialian calls with Jill's test results. Jill is super nervous to hear the news. The doctor tells her that he and the radiologist can't differentiate from the CAT scan results whether the tumor is coming from her uterus or from her ovary. If it stems from her ovary, she may have to lose that ovary. He says either way, she must have it removed because it is so large and will continue to grow. Jill cries about this news and is scared.
Lisa goes to sell her necklaces. She stands on the street in a pretty flower dress and approaches passerbys with buying her necklaces for $5. Everybody is refusing and walking right on past her.
Jessica and Dr. Stan meet. Stan asks her how her day of 'joy' went and how it made her feel to hug all those people. Jessica says mostly everybody was willing to hug and many of the hugs were big bear hugs. She says it's a big day for her because before she thought she could only receive that kind of affection from her mom.
Meanwhile, Lisa is still trying to sell her necklaces. She finally approaches a man and his children and they come over to look at the necklaces, which are very pretty by the way. He decides to buy one or two and she makes her first sale.
Stan and Jessica continue talking. Stan tells her that Rhonda sent over a box for Jessica and a note. The note says that this is a box of fun things for Jessica so that she can reclaim her playful nature. They look inside and find a jump rope, chalk, bubbles. Then Stan gives her a hula-hoop. He then says he's going to be 'vulnerable' and show her how to use it. It's quite funny as he tries out the hula-hoop for Jessica.
Later that evening, Lisa calls Rhonda and is afraid to tell her she didn't sell all the necklaces. She tells Rhonda she sold seven of them, and Rhonda says "excellent," which greatly relieves Lisa. Rhonda then tells her there is another part to the exercise. Now she has 72 hours to develop a complete business plan for selling jewelry. She tells her that this exercise is to help Lisa develop skills to open her own business.
Jessica and TJ play with the things from the box Rhonda gave her. Jessica plays jacks, and then they blow bubbles. Jessica says this has been a wonderful, joyous day, and thinks that this joy can be sustained. She seems so much happier.
A courier arrives with a package for Lisa. Inside Lisa finds it is from Rhonda, and it's a start-up kit for Lisa to make her business plan. Lisa seems a bit overwhelmed at the thought of creating this plan.
Jill calls a friend and talks about her doctor's visit. She says she is very sad about how difficult it is to maintain a positive state of mind since learning about these health problems, and that she is going to have to have surgery. She had a bad experience with surgery for fibroids 10 years ago, in which she almost died, and fears that she will die this time.

Allison's Surrogate Father and Lisa Messes Up
An older man arrives at the house with flowers for Allison. He tells Allison that Iyanla sent him to be her surrogate father for the day. His name is Steve Chandler and he is also an author. He asks her if she would like to go on a picnic with him and she says yes.
Rhonda and Lisa meet and Rhonda tells Lisa that she is going to open her own business today. She gives her $100 and tells her to use it to buy supplies to make jewelry. Then she is to stand at a designated street corner and sell her wares that evening. Rhonda tells her she wants the $100 returned, and Lisa can keep any of the profits above that. Lisa feels a little overwhelmed.
Allison and her surrogate father Steve arrive at the Mildred A Mathias Botanical Gardens. They sit down to eat and talk about Allison's past boyfriends. She says she attracted two alcoholic men and that they both cheated on her. She says she 'forced' them to cheat by not being present in the relationship. Steve says he was also an alcoholic, and Allison realizes that Steve has a lot of the same characteristics of her real dad. They talk a little about Allison's real father, and Steve tells Allison that it is tragic that nobody ever intervened regarding his alcoholism. Allison says only the family knew, and it always had to be kept a secret.
Before Lisa leaves to go shopping for her project, she asks TJ and
Allison and Steve continue their talk at the botanical garden. They discuss her father's death, and she says she was never mad at him, just sad. Steve tells her that was the safest way to be for her at that time. He asks if she would like him to come to the house that evening and make dinner for all the housemates, and she enthusiastically agrees.
Rhonda and TJ meet and Rhonda gives her an assignment. TJ is to go work-out today and make a connection with someone at the gym.
Lisa returns and tells the women that she'll give them a percentage of the profits she makes if they will help her. So all of the women (except Jill, who is at the doctor), help her. Then the women go into have group, and Lisa talks about who she would hire if she had her own business. She says she would hire 'take charge' people, and also says she likes to boss people around. This isn't going over too well with the other women, judging by the looks on their faces. Jill returns from her doctor's appointment, and is upset. The women ask her what's wrong, and she tells them that her fibroid has grown and is 40lbs. The doctor told her that if she doesn't have it removed, it could lead to death. Just then Dr. Stan arrives for group, but upon hearing Jill's alarming news, he decides to postpone group because the women can't concentrate after just learning about Jill's health problem. So the women disperse, and Jill and Allison discuss Jill's situation. Jill tells Allison that she has no health insurance. Then Jill begins to cry and starts to hyperventilate. Allison gets her some water and tries to calm her down. Iyanla arrives and Jill tells her the news. Jill says it is difficult to admit to Iyanla that she hasn't been taking care of herself. Iyanla tells her that she can't do this--not take care of her health, and then tells her they will work together and move forward.
TJ arrives at 24 Hour Fitness. She sits on an exercise machine and asks the women sitting next to her how to use it. She then introduces herself to the woman, and the woman tells TJ her name is Buffy and she's from the Valley. They talk about their jobs (Buffy is a pharmaceutical rep), and seem to get along. TJ asks for Buffy's email address and Buffy gives it to her.
Lisa is still working on making jewelry, and is not happy.
Rhonda goes to meet Lisa at the street corner where Lisa is supposed to be selling her jewelry, but Lisa is nowhere to be seen. Rhonda waits around for her, meanwhile Lisa is still at the house working on the jewelry. Rhonda is angry!
Iyanla arrives at the house to find Allison cleaning out the refrigerator. She says Allison is doing that in order to distract herself from thinking about her dad and dealing with her problems. She calls Allison away from her job and asks her about her meeting with the surrogate father. Allison says it was strange but nice. Iyanla says it's easier for Allison to be intimate with the fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator than with a person, and that she should try to stay present and let her feeling flow.
Rhonda enters the house in a fury. She yells out "Where's Lisa!?!" and then goes in search of her. Lisa is still working on the jewelry. Rhonda tells her she has been waiting for her for 1 1/2 hours on the street corner. Lisa says she called her twice, and Rhonda tells her that when she didn't return her call, she should have gone to the location where they were supposed to meet. Lisa says she is in shock and that Rhonda is reading her the riot act. Lisa says she didn't use good judgment and starts crying. Rhonda tells Lisa to gather her housemates in the living room.
The housemates gather and Rhonda tells them that she waited for Lisa for 1 1/2 hours, and wants to know what happened from their perspective. They say they helped her throughout the day. Lisa says there is no good excuse for what she did--she was just stressed out and trying to be perfect. She is crying and very upset. Allison says Lisa wants to just tell someone else what to do, and Rhonda says Lisa has problems with authority. Rhonda asks
Lisa tells TJ she feels like an idiot. TJ then tells Lisa that leadership is a very difficult thing, but that Lisa was acting all high and mighty about her 'leadership'. She says Lisa has a big ego that got in the way of the assignment. She tells Lisa that she loves her, but thinks she is going to get kicked out.
Allison's surrogate father, Steve, arrives for dinner and Lisa immediately takes over and gives Steve a tour of the house. Meanwhile, Jill and Jessica discuss Jill's health problems. Jill wonders whether she should call her mom and tell her. She worries it will be too much for her mom to handle. Jessica tells her that her mom is there to love and support her, and that it isn't her job to protect her mom.
Lisa shows Steve around and they start discussing Allison. Lisa says Allison's role is the healer and mediator, but that she does these things at the expense of herself. TJ interrupts them and says Allison needs support, and Steve goes back out to join her. TJ is angry with Lisa because she says whenever a man comes to the house, Lisa goes immediately into flirtation mode and monopolizes the man's time. She thinks Lisa needs to back-off of Steve.
After dinner, Allison and Steve sit down to talk. Steve asks her if there's anything they haven't discussed that she would regret not saying. Allison tells him no, and that it was important that Steve told her that if her father had known what he did (to hurt her) he would have said he was sorry. As Steve gets up to leave, Allison hugs him and tells him thank you, and that it's a day she will never forget.
Lisa tries to talk with TJ about Rhonda. She says she feels Rhonda is punishing her for 'who she is'. She then talks to Jessica about it. She tells Jessica that she feels everyone is against her. Jessica tells her that they are working for her, and just giving her feedback.
The episode ends with Jill sitting outside alone, crying. She is obviously thinking over her health problems and is very upset.
Preview: Jill struggles to face her health crisis. The women's frustration with Lisa boils over, and Lisa learns her fate.

Jessica's Memorial and Christina Meets With Karrine
The show starts with Christina telling Allison that she had a nightmare the night before about yesterday's events. She tells Allison that she never wants to lie again, or at least never wants to get 'caught' lying again.
Rhonda meets with Jessica and brings with her two photos. The first photo is of the New York skyline before 9/11, with the twin towers standing. The second photo is of post 9/11 skyline , without the towers. She asks Jessica who she was before 9/11. Jessica says she was fearless, hopeful and carefree. Rhonda asks her about how she changed after 9/11, and Jessica says she became scared, felt lost, and stopped being present/participating in life. Jessica says her life stopped after 9/11.
Christina makes a phone call to her boyfriend, Paul. We learn that Christina met Paul at a strip club the last night she danced, and that they have been dating since then (about a month). She tells him that she lied to Iyanla and is worried that she is still in trouble for it.
Back to Rhonda and Jessica. Rhonda tells Jessica that there will always be a void from the tragedy of 9/11--that she lost her mother. She tells her that it is her job to learn to fill that void. She tells Jessica to create a memorial for her mom to honor her and to honor herself. Jessica does not like memorials and has avoided them up until this point.
The women meet for group with Iyanla. Iyanla notices that Jill looks good--she is wearing make-up, and says that she has gone from smoking 8-9 cigarettes a day down to 3. Iyanla then sets up and exercise in which the women are to tell each other something from a card they are handed, but they are not to use the words printed on the card. For example, Christina has a card that says TJ's hairstyle makes her look much older than she is. Christina has to tell TJ that, but in different words. So Christina tells TJ that her hairstyle makes her look "mature". Iyanla asks TJ how that makes her feel, and she says she felt that Christina was saying she was old. Jill then tells Allison that her gift-giving is appreciated, but she is unsure whether Allison is giving the gift to please the recipient of the gift, or herself. Allison takes it well, and says she needs t obe more clear on her intentions before giving a gift. Iyanla then discusses "Feedback" and what it is. She has on the TV screen in the room the three rules of feedback. They are: 1. Information given from a place of love and concern. 2. It is based on observation and experience. 3. It focuses on the behavior of the person, not the person herself.
Allison says she has feedback for Lisa, and tells Lisa that she worries about her finding true love because she chooses men who will just do everything for her. Lisa doesn't like this feedback at all, and Iyanla offers a new way of phrasing it. She tells Lisa that she may not be attracting the man she really wants because she is in the process of transformation. Lisa says that sounds like a compliment, and is more pleased with the way Iyanla phrased it... Group is adjourned.
Iyanla finds Jill's ashtray and sees three cigarette butts in it. She confronts Jill (I thought she was 'allowed' 3 cigarettes a day?), about it. She thinks Jill may be lying about how many cigarettes she is smoking. Jill swears she is not, and Iyanla drops the subject, but says she will revisit it later. They go outside to talk. Iyanla wants to address behaviors that keep Jill from being authentic. Jill says she tends to interact with people with "angry speaking" and that this is one behavior that keeps her from authenticity. Iyanla gives her an assignment: Jill has to call her old boss and ask for his feedback about how she behaved. Jill is stunned and is dreading this phone call. She also has to call her mom and ask her for feedback. Iyanla gives her a script to follow when she makes the calls.
Jessica and Allison go to Big Lots to buy things for the memorial service. She buys a lot of candles, etc.
Iyanla and Christina meet. Iyanla wants to talk to Christina about hidden addictions. Iyanla brings out a basket with a feathered boa (which represents Christina's addiction to sensuality), money to represent her addiction to that, and a piece of wood with strings attached to it (that a puppet would hang from), to represent her addiction to power. Iyanla tells her she must heal these addictions because there will always be temptations to do engage in them again if she doesn't. She tells Christina a visitor is coming today to meet with her. Christina is apprehensive about who it might be.
Christina's visitor arrives and it is Karrine Steffans. Karrine is the woman Christina met with before--she is a former stripper who is now a successful author, and Christina is happy to see her again. They talk about Christina's addiction, and Christina says her biggest one is money. Karrine tells her it's a difficult one to give up, but that she can do it. Karrine then addresses Christina's lying. She gets Christina to say, "My name is Christina, and I'm a liar". Christina says it feels wrong and weird to say it, and it's very difficult to admit being a liar.
Jill makes her phone call to her former boss who fired her, Mr. Roshin. She is super nervous, but does a good job. She tells him she is on a personal journey and asks for his feedback about her behavior when she worked for him. He seems nice and tells her that she was slow to commit to certain aspects of her job and that she would do just enough to get by. She thanks him and they end the conversation. She is very relieved to be done with that call!
Christina and Karrine are still talking. Christina says she fears feeling ashamed of everything she's done once she returns home. Karrine tells her that shame keeps you from moving on. Karrine advises her to throw away all her phone numbers of old contacts, clients, etc. Then she tells Christina that she will hire her as a writing assistant after she graduates from Starting Over. Christina is thrilled by this news, and feels it is a dream come true. It turns out that Christina would like to be an author too like Karrine.
Jill makes her second call--this one to her mom. Her mom gives her some feedback, and tells her that Jill never gives anything a chance and has been combative in the past. Jill takes it all in and doesn't get angry. Her mother is surprised by her calm reaction to what she told her.
Iyanla and Jill meet to discuss the phone calls she made. Jill says she has learned she is pretty accurate about what she needs to work on, and that she feels much better having completed the calls. Iyanla tells her that she's been doing a lot of great work and that she can take 5 articles of clothing off of "Miss Mabel", which is Iyanla's name for the mannequin representing Jill. Jill is overjoyed about it.
Iyanla and Christina meet and they talk about the discussion she and Karrine had. Christina tells Iyanla that Karrine told her to throw away all phone numbers of contacts from when she was stripping/escorting. Iyanla brings up Christina's boyfriend, Paul, and asks if he is exempt from that. Christina says she doesn't know. Iyanla says that there is something Christina is not saying, and that until she lays all her cards on the table, her days at the SO house are numbered.
The women and Rhonda gather for Jessica's memorial. It is beautiful. She has arranged on the ground candles, rocks and a red rose in the middle representing her mom. She says she wants the memorial to invoke feelings of peace. Jessica says that today she is deciding to rejoin the 'old" Jessica--who she was before 9/11. She says 9/11 will always be a horrible tragedy, but it was not the death of her. The women all hug her and support her, and Jessica feels comfortable receiving that support, when before she only felt comfortable receiving that kind of love from her mom.
Later the women are eating dinner, and Christina brings up that she thinks Iyanla might want her to break up with her boyfriend, Paul, since she met him while she was still stripping. TJ says that Paul was at the strip club, and people go to strip clubs to watch women strip (there's no other reason). Christina defends Paul, and says he was just there with some friends that night, and doesn't usually go to strip clubs. TJ says it's very hard to talk to Christina because she can get angry at any moment, and just doesn't want to talk to her anymore. Jessica asks her if Paul would still date her if she's no longer a stripper, and Christina says he would. That he sees her not as a stripper, but as a mother. She says she is very happy with Paul and does not want to break up with him.

Christina Hustles Iyanla and Lisa Is A Ranch Hand
A handsome cowboy arrives at the house at 6AM and knocks on the door until he wakes up the women. TJ answers the door, and the cowboy, Kaleo, asks for Lisa. Lisa goes to the door, and Kaleo tells her she is going to work on the ranch. He tells her to be there at 7AM, gives her a hat and bandana, and tells her to pack a lunch. Lisa gets ready and Allison packs her lunch for her. Lisa leaves the house at 7:15AM and doesn't arrive at the Sunset Ranch until 7:45AM. Kaleo and another ranch hand are patiently waiting for her. They tell her she is late and put her right to work raking poo. She says her back hurts and she feels terribly out of shape. After raking, she has to give a horse an injection.
Back at the house, Jessica is feeling distrustful of (her accountability partner)
Iyanla arrives with a package. The same ex-client, Doug, who sent
Back at the ranch, Lisa is trying to shoe a horse. She is having a hard time, but does seem to be giving it her all.
Meanwhile at the house,
Iyanla and Allison meet and Iyanla tells her she has been selected as the celebrated cancer survivor for Laugh For The Cure, which is based in
At the ranch, Lisa is still trying to shoe the horse. She finally finishes and then has to saddle the horse. After that, she has to clean the goat pen--and there is more raking of poo.
At the ranch, Lisa is now instructed to catch a chicken. She runs all over the ranch trying to catch it, until finally the ranch hand tells her that it was a very good effort, even though she was unsuccessful. Rhonda arrives at the ranch and the two ranch hands, Lisa and Rhonda sit down to talk about the day. The ranch hands says she is very charming and worked hard. Then they show flashbacks of Lisa being very flirtatious with the two ranch hands--massaging their backs, making flirtatious comments. Rhonda asks if Lisa feels she has to be sexual to get people to like her, and Lisa agrees. They say they would hire her again if she could show up on time. Lisa feels accomplished, and realizes that her fear was causing her not to believe in herself.
Allison practices her acceptance speech for Jill, TJ and Jessica. Jill says Allison's perky, bubbly delivery is incongruous with the subject matter. Jessica also feels Allison's delivery is too happy for talking about having cancer.
Lisa has arrived back at the house and is taking a nap. Kaleo arrives and wakes her up. He gives her a stack of blankets and tells her that the hair must be brushed off of them and the dust beaten out of them. Lisa gets to work, but doesn't understand how this will help her towards her goal.
Iyanla arrives and meets with
Kaleo comes back to pick up the blankets from Lisa. He inspects them and says she did a really great job.
Allison goes to record her videotaped acceptance speech. She gives a good speech, but she does seem very (maybe overly) optimistic in it. Jill says Allison is still speaking from her head and not her heart.
